Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023)
A complete borefest. So much potential down the drain
I was beyond excited when I first heard about this series and when the teasers dropped I just couldn't wait. The start of the show was decent, it had interesting angles and introduction to the new monsters then all of the sudden the story just nose dived right into boredom. Characters just roaming around, they're not discovering any new monsters or fighting them or trying to survive. All 3 main characters stories and backgrounds are total fail. The actors are not too good, the storyline is beyond weak and makes you lose interest rather quickly
. I hope they can improve drastically as the time goes by but I'm sure this is not worth buying Apple TV subscription.
The Nun II (2023)
A complete slugfest and boring story compared to the first one
I absolutely loved the first Nun movie. It was fast paced and had many scenes that were genuinely hard to watch due to its nature but what on earth was this Nun 2? Firstly the story was such a slow slugfest, it never really mounts onto anything. The characters weren't really thought out and as an audience I completely felt uninvested. The acting of most actors were so terrible that it felt like a cheesy SciFi budget horror movie. Although the main two actors did phenomenal in the first movie but the story and screenplay was so bad in this one that even they couldn't carry this movie. And it was so stupid on how they briefly mention that the Priest from the first movie has just randomly passed away and no one seems to be surprised or wants to investigate, he was such a good actor and his character was so compelling in the first movie.
It was really hard to imagine this sequel tied to Conjuring series. I really really hope they don't make anymore of these Nun sequels. I'm going to pretend the first movie was the main Nun story. Overall this sequel belongs in trash bin unfortunately.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Not sure why 70MM IMAX was needed for this slugfest?
Let's start with the positives:
- Main Cast was great - Cillian, Emily, Matt, RDJ were absolutely great and it was good to see Josh Hartnett who is a very under rated actor.
- Good screenplay, dialogues, sets of of 1940s.
Negatives:
- Absolute slugfest of a story. Hard to believe this was a Nolan's movie. It's waaay too overhyped because of his name. Personally I think he has lost that touch. The story kept flip flopping from characters personal life to the main project then into 2 different hearings at two different timelines. There were no indications of the timelines at all, you just keep floating around in different timelines where all of them look the same pretty much. So it was confusing to keep up. It doesn't talk about the World War in proper context. Doesn't show anything on Hiroshima, just a few mentions of it and that's pretty much it.
-Why did this need 70MM IMAX cameras? 95% of this movie is person to person dialogues in a normal room setting. There's no action sequence of any kind. Only one small explosion scene that lasts like 30 seconds tops. So why is Nolan making all the fuss about taking up all of the IMAX screens. Personally I feel IMAX should've remained for Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning. It was a faaar superior movie for IMAX than this.
- I dare you to imagine this movie being exactly the same but take out Nolan's name. It would definitely not do well at the box office. It's definitely feels overrated and would've been better in a documentary instead of a full fledged "IMAX 70MM" film. Ridiculous.
Overall, you can wait to stream it when it comes out or can skip it. Not much you're missing out.
Fast X (2023)
The new director Louis Leterrier and Jason Momoa steal the show!
If you can trash Fast 7, 8 and 9 and just go from Fast 6 straight to Fast 10 would make this a heck of a series. I think Justin Lin exiting as the director was just what this franchise needed. This new director Louis Leterrier gave all types of Fast audience what the love. It had a good storytelling, a good balance of action vs comedy vs emotions, and aloooot less of the ridiculousness like a Pontiac in space crap. It still had over the top scenes but well balanced. And for THE LOVE OF GOD THANK YOU FOR FINALLY ADDING A STREET RACING SCENE. That's true essence of Fast movies, I wish it was bit longer. It was great seeing more new cars instead of typical Dodge charger edition. I wish more JDM and German were added, but hopefully in the next one.
Jason Momoa - I was totally surprised by his character which I was completely not expecting but was really surprised by Momoa's charisma of showing his colorful feminine psychotic side instead of the normal Alpha that we all know him as. I was super invested in his character throughout because it was different, unique, and unpredictable which kept me on edge.
Some characters from Fast 7, 8, and 9 are washouts and just needs to be sweep. I am really hoping to see this franchise end on a high note and with more of Momoa changing the course of this Dom's Family.
Thank you for finally listening to the OG fans. Looking forward to the next!
MH370: The Plane That Disappeared (2023)
Hocus Pocus starting MH370
I was so excited and looking forward to this documentary and Almost 10 years of this mystery and all this documentary could cover were hocus pocus theories from aviation journalists without any factual data that proves anything. It was bizarre they didn't even bother talking about Ocean infinity's search work. They did not even bring any aviation experts on the panel like Jon Cox and more. There is substantial work that Richard Godfrey conducted that studies the small radio wave interruptions which he mapped to exact location of the plane and Ocean infinity is planning to do one last search based on this credible evidence.
Such a disappointed Netflix documentary. There are better credible documentaries on YouTube with real experts based on scientific facts. Prayers goes out to families still suffering. I hope it's found soon as ocean infinity gets to Richard Godfrey's mapped out location.
Plane (2023)
A Syfy version of the movies: The flight of Phoenix and Con Air
If you have an interest in watching this movie, I highlyyyy recommend watching the classic movies called the flight of the phoenix with Denis Quaid or Con Air with Nicholas Cage. Those movies had exceptional storytelling, amazing cast, and was a true nail biters compared to this hotpadge mess of a movie. Plot of those movies were very similar but much more realistic with great cinematography and really good acting skills. If you've seen those movies already then this movie pales in comparison, it will seem a lot like a Syfy channel's watered down knockoff.
The only good thing going for this movie was Gerard butler, rest of the cast was terrible and there were barely any character arcs. The graphics were laughable considering it's 2023 whereas I've been better decades ago. Towards the end it was a cringe fest as to how is it even possible to fly considering this many bullet holes. The name of the movie was as vanilla as it gets "Plane". I mean this the sense of creativity of this movie.
You're much better off watching the flight of the phoenix and con air then this pile of crap.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
How is this even allowed? Insulting to first 2 movies!
Terrible main actors, they could not save themselves if their lives depended on it. I've seen better stage actors than these. An absolute atrocious storyline and extremely unbearable. It makes me question on how is this even allowed to be given a green light to be made? It's like everyone on on this project were smoking something and we're completely high when making this.
If you watch the original first 2 movies, they were such instant classics, especially during Halloween time. The graphics of those movies are million times better than this one even after two decades.
The creeper look, costume and makeup was such a joke, it looked like he was playing a game of darts with a fake mask or something. Completely destroyed the credibility of original creeper. If only there was a way to completely trash this tragedy of a movie. It shouldn't even be called a movie.
If you've never seen the first 2 movies, please skip this dumpster fire and watch the original ones.
That '90s Show (2023)
As a massive 70s show fan, this was great except the Asian kid
Okay let's just be real, if you were coming in with high expectations of the 70s show, you'll surely be disappointed. But if you try to look at it from a different lens, it's actually pretty witty and has some fun nostalgia of the 90s. It was a delight to revisit the foreman's house and the basement we all grew up and absolutely fell in love it. The set directors made an impeccable set which looked the same two decades ago and yet more fresher.
Storyline - it has potential but weak at many points where they could've made it but more meaningful instead of a random summer just passing through. There should've been a more impactful storyline especially when you had access to majority of the older cast as guests.
Casting - Offcourse the heartbeat of this show were Kitty and Red who haven't aged a day which is insane and it was a delight to see majority of the old cast, laughed a lot with Leo and Fez appearances. Really missed Hyde but it's understandable due to his personal issues but man him and Kelso would've made a huge dent to this show. Now let's talk about the Kids, most are quite tolerable except the Asian kid, his acting is waaaay too over the top and extremely annoying. I get that they need a new Fez but this isn't it at all. I cringed everytime he talked and unfortunately he had a lot of screen time.
Dear Netflix, thank you for giving us this treat and for the love of God don't cancel it right after the first season. Let them make more seasons, I'm sure it'll get better especially if you took out this Asian kid.
National Treasure: Edge of History (2022)
Insult to original films
Wow what a miss this show is. Terrible overacting cast, bad pace of storytelling and weak as heck plot. It's actually an insult to original classic films. It was painful to go through the first episode which was filled with cringe. I'm surprised how did Disney executives even let this train wreck make the Final Cut?
Only good nostalgic thing about it was the background music which correlates with the original films, everything else was just downright dreadful. There was no sense of mystery, thriller, or any wittiness that are core of National Treasure.
I really hope they stick to the movies with Nicholas Cage and trash bin this garbage of a series.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Too much Goofy dialogues, very disappointed by Marvel
The entire movie Thor is just joking around and being silly, I mean in every dialogue which was complete unnecessary. Thor is meant to be taken seriously, not like a goofball. The Ragnarok had the perfect balance of comedy and seriousness, but this one was a utter crap.
As a result, I couldn't take Christian Bale's character seriously. I was so excited for Natalie Portman to return but the script writing for her was terrible, and suddenly after being mighty Thor she can breathe openly in space travel? Really?
Human screaming goats, Really? What was the point of Guardians? And Wasting Sam Neil and Matt Damon was completely unnecessary. And finally Russell Crowe's character as a goofball Zeus?
I honestly think it would've been better off this movie not being made. It was torture to see our beloved Marvel character being destroyed. Wake up Marvel, either pull the plug on Thor or stop with this much goofiness. It was atrocious!
Resident Evil (2022)
As a massive Resident Evil fan, I don't understand these reviews
I think it's high time we all stop complaining about new Resident Evil stuff not being like the games. As a result we already got a horrible movie last year called 'Welcome to Raccoon City" which had all the elements of the games but overall turned out as a terrible movie.
This series on the other hand really took me by a surprise because I was going in with a low expectation but this took a different stab at Resident Evil all together and it worked for me. I throughly enjoyed the storyline, the characters build up, visuals, and the pace of the series.
I actually would love season 2 of this but seeing how you all have bashed it, Netflix may not renew it. It's too bad because this series had a tremendous potential...
Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)
Stunning Visuals but what a messy storyline
Even OG cast couldn't save the atrocious storyline. I guess the writer completely missed the mark on what we fans were expecting. The last movie Dinosaurs escaped to mainland and now humans and dinosaurs will need to coexist. It's like the writers didn't even see what happened in Jurassic Park part 2 lost world where T-Rex caused havoc when loose on mainland. This movie should've been more of an apocalyptic feel, humans trying to survive, Government/Armies failing, safe zones being breached and overall carnage where the OG cast somehow ends up reuniting to come up with a plan to save human species.
Instead we get the same crap as the last 2 movies, a fancy secure building that gets breached, a rich greedy CEO, and everything just falling apart as usual. No purpose for OG cast to be there. Super lazy writing and screenplay. No originality feeling. Felt like a hotpodge cash grab mess.
On positive side, visuals were stunning.
Loveyatri (2018)
A lot better than the trash we're getting nowadays!
I don't know why I waited 4 years to watch this movie, I had always loved the songs of this movie but never really got around to see it because of negative reviews. It's honestly not as bad as people bashed it to be.
Story definitely needed a lot more work and that ending wasn't that great because it went by too fast towards happily ever after. If you can overlook at Ayush as Salman's brother in law, he's actually got some potential. With the right scripts, he can become something big.
If you didn't like anything else, you should atleast like just looking at Warina. Sure she needs a lot of work in her acting but really nice to look at.
Overall good one time watch, had the potential for becoming something really big but the writers and screenplay missed the mark. Still much better than the trash Bollywood is producing nowadays!!!
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Finally a sequel done right! Tom Cruise has truly outdone himself yet again!
What a story, what a thriller ride without any cheesy CGI, it felt real, it felt authentic, and story stayed true to its predecessor. Tom Cruise hasn't aged a day, just as young and fit as the first one and yet again has outdone himself. Excellent character builds, great lines, kept you hooked from first second till the last. If sequels good sequels will take 36 years in the making, then it's worth the wait as long as it's made right like this instead of cash grabs. Well Done Team Top Gun!
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
21 years of Spider magic beautifully captured in one Cinematic experience!
Wow I mean just wow. I don't think anyone in Cinema's history has been able to pull off a 3 generation of super heros all in one movie while keeping a giant secret from fans with doing complete justice to each one and their villains.
Grew up watching Toby Meguire's spider-man, then transitioned to Andrew Garfield's and was enjoying the Tom Holland's. I never thought in a million years that they would one day join together in a such visual treat.
Even their villains kept in great shape over the years, they still looked same as those days.
Wow just Wow! Hats off marvel. Take a bow! You guys have officially outdone yourself. Every minute of this movie was pure treat for us fans!
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
After Walking Dead's massive downfall, I never thought I would love another Zombie series again but I was WRONG!!
Holy WOW! This show blew me away by excellent production quality especially the zombies, amazing young talented actors, and excellent storyline with depth not just senseless zombie flick.
Honestly I never thought that after Walking Dead's massive let down I would ever enjoy a Zombie flick but this show just took it to whole new level. It had everything you need, a great storyline from start to finish, excellent mind boggling graphics, excellent cast, emotion, gore, cringe, and edge of your seat scenes, adrenaline and more.
Wow. Hollywood needs to wake up and take lessons from Korean shows! They are just on another level! I really hope there's a Season 2 for this show. I am totally hooked!
Halloween Kills (2021)
As a massive fan of the franchise, this one was really tough to swallow!!!
I was so excited to see where the story arc was going to go next because the last reboot was pretty decent but boy was this sequel bad! This one was same old story we've all seen hundreds of times in Halloween movies just repackaged with new characters. Nothing new at all, very predictable!
Speaking of new characters, I could not believe the overacting of all actors except Jamie Lee Curtis. Terrible screenplay lines and very amateur acting. It felt like someone from Sci-Fi channel picked up this movie to make it with a tiny budget. It's mind boggling how someone can make such a terrible movie with $100+ Million budget.
Tommy Doyle - Okay if you're going to center the story around Tommy, why not bring back Paul Rudd? No one could've played adult Tommy Doyle better then Paul Rudd and if he wasn't available or turned down the role then his character arc should've just been left alone. Very disappointing replacement!
If this franchise has any future it needs better story writers, better screenplay writers, and better casting directors in order to avoid another train wreck.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
My appetite as an audience is Full and satisfied
Wow. Just Wow. Take a bow creators and cast of The last kingdom. Not comparing it to Game of Thrones but being a huge fan of that series that show left me just frustrated as an audience at many times and lets not even talk about the last season. This show on the other hand is soooo freaking Raw and Authentic. I loved the fast pace of events leading upto battles which kept me wanting me more and moreeee like a greedy Dane.
Excellent character build ups, tonsss of unexpected surprises, marvelous battle choreography, and just purely beautiful storytelling. Every actor just nailed their parts. I hope we get to see so much more of this World through Uthred's eyes.
Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship (2020)
Tremendous potential but failed execution. Please don't make Chapter 2 until you get it right
This concept on paper was great and Vicky Kaushal teaming with legendary Ashutosh Rana could've delivered a Power pack horror flick but it failed pretty bad.
First thing right off the bat, very bad animations we are in 4K level and these animations felt like year 2000. There was no need to animate the creepiness, just let makeup artist make real people into walking corpses etc.
Secondly, the story - such a brilliant concept: a missing ship returning after years without any crew or answers but super weak script and story telling. Tail end of this story made no sense as it's virtually impossible for someone to be alive on a missing ship for this long. The whole drunken shady captain and wife's affair angle was so dumb and unnecessary.
Please work on these pointers before making chapter 2.
War (2019)
Very much tried to copy Mission Impossible
Loved Hrithik and Tiger's chemistry. Very refreshing. Songs were great especially ghunghroo. But that's pretty much it. The storyline was soooo much ripped off an Mission impossibile movie. Also a lot of it was very predictable unfortunately, seen these kinds of plot lines a million times. Sadly it fails to deliver a good story telling. They missed the mark on that one bigggg time. Wasn't expecting that from a Adi chopra's film. Only giving it 5-star for the action quality and acting of both, otherwise just a one time watch and shelve kind of a movie.
The Lion King (2019)
Actually came back home afterwards and Re-Watched the Original
Okay after reading all the negative reviews I really wanted to like this re-make and went in with full open mind but it definitely fell short BIGGGG time. I am a fan of Jon Favreau but sadly I think he got too caught up in the CGI of this and totally overlooked the voice-overs.
Besides Seth Rogan as Pumba, I think they butchered every character development. I actually came back home after watching it in theaters and re-watched the original and it's by faaaar waaay more superior. Every voice over actor nailed it, humor was top notch and it had the emotion which I did not get from the new one unfortunately.
Personally I feel if you were going to keep everything the same, then the voice acting should've surpass the original OR don't bother. Unless you want to make a complete new Lion King witch new characters and storyline leaving the original untouched.
Kalank (2019)
Hmmm really baffled by these Reviews???
I went in with the lowest possible expectations for this movie after seeing the reviews ripping this movie apart. Afterwards I just couldn't understand as to why it was rated so badly??
It was actually a pretty decent movie and a storyline. Yes it wasn't no masterpiece but still pretty good. Only scene which was bad was the bull fighting but I really loved watching Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri I'm the same frame after such a long time. Alia Bhatt did pretty decent and Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapoor was really good. Loved Arjit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal voices. Storytelling was done really well and there were some really emotional scenes.
I don't know if Indian audiences have lost their minds or was it because there was a Muslim angle in this movie and politics kicked in around elections? I just don't know but to me this movie was worth my money!!!
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
Guys who never had a Shattered Heart, this movie is NOT for you!
Okay, I see lots of negative reviews and not trying to justify them because this story is something very few guys like myself have experienced in real life. When you genuinely fall in love with someone and want to bring the World to them, but they end up choosing someone else. And no matter how much you tell your heart to move-on and wish them well, it's almost impossible to get rid of those feelings.
This story personally hits home to me, because I suffered this pain, I went through it, It wasn't just an infatuation, I didn't want anything in return, just wanted her love and be in her life, but it wasn't meant to be. Even moving on and dating faaar more beautiful women wouldn't live up to what we had which was so special.
OK I agree, the cancer angle was not necessary, that kind of started giving Kal ho na ho/rockstar vibes. So yes, the ending should've been executed better, but other than that it was great.
Songs were absolutely brilliant, the lyrics were fantastic. Arjit nailed it. Once again, this movie isn't for you guys who are either old generation, fulfilled in your love lives/happily married etc. This movie is particularly for those of you who loved someone genuinely but lost them to someone else leaving it one sided love. This pain is very real and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy!
Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013)
Did Deols Seriously forgot to Watch the First one?
Oh where to begin with this one.... I absolutely loveeed the first one. The cast, crew, direction, songs, and the storyline were brilliant on that one. Unfortunately this sequel was a DISASTER.
I was sooo excited to hear that most of the original cast was in this one too and they tied in my fav. new hottie Neha Sharma and Anu Kapoor. But my expectations fell soooo short. I wanted to give a TIGHT slap to the story writer(s) and the director. What were they smoking? You have this elite trio of Deol family which could've been a start of awesome comedy series but instead the time and money was completely wasted.
Seriously no one likes cheap gimmicks like putting in a fake monkey, over-exaggerated thugs wanna-be's, cheap references to Salman Khan's movies. Why even bother making a film if the result would be this disastrous?
Go Goa Gone (2013)
Finally the Zombie Apocalypse hits India
For those of you who are big fans of Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil Series, The Walking Dead will surely enjoy this. I was really skeptic to how Bollywood will transition into Zombie Apocalypse, although they approached it in Shaun of the Dead style, the transition was good and it worked.
This is not for average audiences, so those of you who like romantic crap, or cheesy sadak chap action, then this is completely not for you. Therefore, just turn it off now before going any further.
The best way to rate a zombie movie is to rate the Zombies itself. I was afraid they'll use some cheesy CGI graphics but instead they used real visual effects, the make-ups on Zombies were done perfectly to give the nice terrifying look. And the storyline was interesting on how the Virus spread on a remote Island.
I say Kudos to the director, producers, and actors. I really hope to see more versions of this or even a sequel now that the virus has spread beyond the Island. Hopefully it will be more darker and gloomier this time. For a actor like Saif Ali Khan to take such a bold step for a movie like this really shows how versatile he really is and how open minded he is towards his audience.
Well Done Bollywood, I am impressed, now time to take this concept further!
