Blue Bloods: All the News That's Fit to Click (2015)
Kinda glad
I don't wish harm on anybody, BUT I shed no tears about what happened to Lorenzo Colt. He was such a jerk in the show. He don't care if anybody else got targeted: all he cares about was his journalistic future.
I don't know about the rest of you, but Danny is getting more and more insufferable. He was always insufferable in first five seasons but he is now over the top insufferable. His cowboy shickt really needs to go.
Erin-oh my gosh: is her sole purpose now to tell Danny he can't do what he feels need to be done in order to arrest criminals.
These episodes are getting more and more predictable. I told my wife what was going to happen to LC.
Silent Witness: Death by a Thousand Hits - Part 1 (2024)
Please replace Gabriel, Xara and Velvy
Please, please, please replace Gabriel, Cara, and Velvy with other characters. These three are killing the show by slowing it down to a snail's pace. Gabriel has zero personality. Velvet is as weak as they come. Cara has potential but the writers basically use her as a show piece, I guess communicating to the audience: Look! We're being socially sensitive using a deaf girl in our show. Really miss Leo and precious characters. This show no longer has life. I started having hope in the previous episodes about the murderous students but nothing before or since then with these characters. Please replace them or shut down SW.
The Good Wife: All Tapped Out (2014)
Loved this episode
The Good Wife continues to amaze me with its writing and story lines. Very clever way Alicia and Peter dealt with NSA. Loved how Peter handled it with the senator and how Cary uses the mosque to undercut the claims against his client. Hysterical. Looks like Peter and Alicia may be on the mends. Am glad. Gor tired of her pining for Will. Am getting tired of Michael J Fox's Canning. He's one of the zombies who keeps showing up as mentioned in an earlier episode. Canning needs to beware of Kalinda. She will destroy him if he doesn't change...whixh I would find entertaining!!! Love the Eli Gold character.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Finally!!!! Epic film-making at its finest.
I'm 71 years old and grew up during the days of epic film-making: Ben Hur, Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, to name a few of the greats. Maybe this isn't LOA, but dang, it is gooooooooood! I sas the 84 film when it first came out: loved the story but hated the movie. Terribly campy, not epic at all. Then here comes the modern version. Loved part 1 but was really impressed by part 2. Chalamet is amazing as Paul. Butler is a devilish and scary Feyd--he gave my wife the creeps--he was that good in the role. The final battle scene using the worms--great touch. Zendaya was really the only weak element of the three major stars. She tends to pout too much; and I didn't like her stopping and posing for the camera when she was fighting in the last battle. But these are minor hiccups. It's a great movie and now can't wait for Dune Messiah!
Call the Midwife: Episode #13.3 (2024)
Great episode
I like Call the Midwife. It's had its ups and downs and was wondering after last season if it wasn't time to stop calling the midwife. BUT this season has been better than many and tonight's episode--had me in tears especially with Fred's situation. He and Violet had me really misty-eyed. Am glad it turned out the way it did; otherwise, I would have lost it. Everyone played their parts perfectly. Loved, loved Violet's two campaign speeches. I wish all campaign speeches were as true and motivational as hers. Only one complaint: there are too many characters and stories in the episodes. Keep focusing in Trixie.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Excellent movie but a little too long
I really liked the movie. The emphasis on AI is so timely...and scary. They couldn't have picked a more pertinent story line for today.
The acting was great. Am glad that Hayley Atwell is in a good movie other than the Avengers. She's one of my favorite actresses. Underutilized.
They killed off one of the characters; definitely saw it coming, but hated it when it happened. I always liked that character. I hope none of the other primary characters is killed off. PS: Ethan seemed to get over the loss just a little bit too quickly.
As for the action itself. I loved the action scene at the beginning with the Russian sub. Really wild. The chase in the streets of Rome cool but a little too long.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Hates it
What the heck? First snd third Thors were great. 2nd one was just ok, but also cringeworthy at times. This one was just awful. N Portman simply had zero emotional impact upon the movie. A terrible death scene. She needed to take lessons on dying from Debra Winger. That lady knows how to die. The kids going into battle? SMH. Gotta give it to the screaming goats though. They were hysterical. Some od the cameos were good: Melissa McCarthy and Matt Damon...that was funny. The wokeism in these movies are simply sad. No wonder thr MCU brand is tanking like a Bud Lite. I hope MCU gets back on track....and soon!!!!
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
Beat of all the versions
I LOVE this movie. I saw it when it first came out in 1992 and stillborn ro watch it every Christmas. All but two of the songs are mediocre but they don't take away from the major shining element in it: Michael Caine. He claimed he'd treat it like he was going a serious Scrooge and not like some comedic buffoon. And it works beautifully. I also love Miss Piggy's portrayal of the wife. Hysterical. The special effects are dated (it was made 30 years ago), but the acting and story holds up. I still get teary-eyed whenever Caine gives his speech at his tombstone. It reminds me that I too can always change. Thank you, Michael Caine. You became one of my favorite actors after I saw you Sleuth.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Anybody who rates this below an 8 should be banned
Anybody who rates this below an 8 should be banned from posting on IMBD permanently. Really, a 1 from over 2% of the reviewers? That's ridiculous. The visuals alone are stunning. Whatever else is true of James Cameron, and yes, he is insufferable, he does know action and the power of the big screen. So many younger viewers have no understanding of the impact he has made upon action movies. Just watch action movies before the first Terminator move and Aliens. Those 2 movies took action to a much higher level than the movies before. As for understanding the power of the big screen, he's shown himself to be an expert with Titanic and the 2 Avatar movies. Yep, some of this movie was predictable, but wow, what a ride. Keep making movies, James Cameron.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: FZZT (2013)
I love this episode
I'm a grown man, but I still got tears because of Jemma's situation. I mean I got tears watching it the THIRD time. Elizabeth Henstridge's performance was heart breaking as was Iain's. Their relationship has become the main reason I watch the show. I miss this show and Once Upon A Time.
I also loved Coulson's reaction to Jemma after Ward saved her. Classic. Cracked me up.
Also loved Ward letting Jemma know he knew she was mocking him behind his back. LOL! Loved Jemma's response: no, it's more nasal than he was making it.
Sad that Ward ended up being Hydra in the end. Thr cast itself was disappointed he turned to be Hydra as well.
Silent Witness: History - Part Six (2022)
Loved it
To me thi sseason was vintage Silent Witness. I didn't know who was good or bad until the end. Was the main cop good or bad? I couldn't tell till the end. I felt the same with Sam Ryan. Great ending which I definitely didn't see coming. I am Glad Simone"s gone though. It was a pretty insufferable character. It was like the producers had to have a woke character. Thats getting really old. I love Jack and Nikki though.
Also I liked the whole plot about data privacy. It is a major problem in today's society. It was handled well.
Really didn't like previous season. No intensity to the murders. Just murder by Numbers. But this season redeemed Silent Witness. I am glad because it's my favorite crime show along with Vera.
Endeavour: Terminus (2021)
What the heck has happened to this series?
The acting is great as usual from Evans and Allam but the murders? Writing, directing, and music all mediocre. Barrington Pheloung's music is solely lacking. Sad. Hope next concluding season gets back to its high standards.
Shakespeare in Love (1998)
Forget the naysayers.
This is one perfect movie. Cry every time I watch the scene of the play being performed live. Wish I could have been there 400 years ago to watch it. Mesmerizing performances all around. Love the narrator at the beginning of the play
Well done, Madden.
Emma (1996)
The perfect Austen adaptation
I have issues with evry other big screen adaptation of a Jane Austen book. Emma Thompson too old in Sense and Sensibility. Greer Garson too old in PP. Didn't like Dame Judy Dench in PP. Not a single flaw in this one. Perfect.
The Batman (2022)
My favorite Batman movie, even better than Nolan's. Just one gripe.
Loved this movie. Its tone; its characterizations. Although it was 3-hours long and could have stopped after the first 2, it was gooooooooooooooooood. Casting of each part, spot on. Great story. Just great movie...but one gripe. When he's not Batman, couldn't BW comb his hair at least once? Really, that's my only complaint about the movie. Otherwise, I'd have given it an 11 if IMDB would have let me.
Dalgliesh: Shroud for a Nightingale - Part One (2021)
Who killed who?
I still don't know who killed whom after watching the show. I'd you know, please email me or respond. I was confused by the ending, as was my wife. BUT overall good mystery.
Dune: Part One (2021)
THANK GOODNESS...ERASES MEMORY OF LYNCH'S DUNE
I appreciate Lynch's film of Dune for one reason only: it introduced me to the Dune universe. Other than that, Lynch's movie is awful. This new version is compelling. I just wish it had an intermission so that I wouldn't have to miss one moment by going to the restroom. Incredible movie experience.
North & South (2004)
Jane Austen meets Charles Dickens
Two of the most influential and beloved authors merge into the incredible Mrs. Gaskell's North and South. I loved how she presented and dealt with the great social issues of her day: issues still ravaging modern society. Dickens would be so proud of her. But, ohhhh! The love story. Something Austen could have written. Incredible mini-series. I show it to my ethic classes . . . Made up of students from divergent backgrounds. And they ALL love it. Highest recommendation.
The Durrells (2016)
Wonderful first season and then...
Loved first season. After that it went down hill. Not as funny or charming. But really liked first season.
Sounder (1972)
One of my favorite movies ever
Remember seeing it when it was first released. The homecoming scene left everyone in tears, men and College students incredible cinematic experience. I justice Cicely didn't win best actress that year. But Liza was great in Cabaret.
The Flash: Timeless (2021)
Uh, I liked it.
I think Grant and the rest of the team are great. Surprised by the betrayal. Love that Flash has a heart. Negative people, just quit watching it of you don't like it.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: One World, One People (2021)
Bad...just awful
Terrible Captain America suit for the Falcon. Looked really stupid. The white head covering looked stupid. Very lame speech. I cringed through all of it. I did like parts of the series but evry now and then, it really dragged. "Oh, we need some tender moments" which didn't work. Just stretched it out unnecessarily. Let Bucky have his own series. Or just get off the politically correct pablum you're giving everyone. If this continues, I'm done with F&WS.
The Musketeers (2014)
Loved it
It was slow getting started but by the end of the first season, really good second and third seasons great.
Ocean's Eight (2018)
It was just worth watching just to see . . .
Helena Bonham Carter in all her crazy outfits! Come out. It was light-hearted fun with a little neat switch in the end. Lighten up, people. It's a light-hearted comedy. It was never meant to be the great American "novel," Leave that to the Francis Ford Copola's . . . not sure any more like him exist today. Sag.
New Tricks: Gloves Off (2010)
Great episode
Loved, loved the standoff between Sandra and Jack at the end. Jack along with Brian is truly my favorite character in the show. Sandra had this one coming for a long time. Her self-righteous attitude deserved the dressing down Jack gave her. Again, loved this episode.
