Longmire (2012)
It Started Out So young and strong ....
It started out strong but started losing its appeal for me with season 3 , episode 6 , one of the worst of the series - Then it got a little bit better again- Then , for an absurd reason A&E dropped the show - Then even more bizarre subplots were added in seasons 4 & 5 and it ended so completely afar from Craig Johnson's novels it was ridiculous..Then as I watch it in syndication you pick up small items - I'll start with the casting -Lou Diamond Phillips gave a good effort but he did not resemble Standing Bear from the books at all - Ditto with Katee Sackhoff as Vic. And. Cady. The problem is in the books Walt and Vic are paired early and her and another deputy are going to be the next Sherrif , not. Cady.-They never go back to Walt and Henry in Nam. Henry would never agree to run the Casino. Cady in the books is with the Attorney General in Cheyenne-they never go to Philly and see Vic's familyn- Basically they messed up -Still I rate it an 8 due to the early episodes.-Jmho.
The Avengers: The Joker (1967)
Once again
Once again a rehash of an older episode - And , again, while quite enjoyable not as good as the original with Honor Blackman.. Honor was much more believable in her fight scenes. Of course by this time the series was becoming more whimsical - Even becoming more like the American show Batman in some episodes .The earlier rehash episode, " The Superlative Seven " was also very good and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Charlotte Rampling and Donald Sutherland in early roles in their careers but the original with Honor Blackman as Cathy Gale, John Steed's assistant was just as good , If not better. Jmho.
As Time Goes By: The Bathroom (2000)
oh well
Another lackluster episode with several Inconsistancies. An extra bath should have been added as soon as Lionel moved In - and the Idea that it cannot be afforded the way they spend money is beyond the pale.
Jean is erratic as usual - she stands up for her man and admonishes the girls for their childish laughter at Lionel's expense and rightfully so -but only after the fact. Oh well ,one can only hope the next episode is better and more well thought out.
As Time Goes By: Animal Magnetism (2000)
???
Have the writers gone bonkers - two clunkers In a row. Absolutely terrible episode.
So to top it off , Sandy goes off with Alistair and Judy with Harry, making no sense whatsoever.
This season so far has been quite a disappointment.
As Time Goes By: A Deeply Personal Problem (2000)
absurd
Easily the worst episode so far. It borders on the absurd. Jean's constant meddling and mendacity wears thin after awhile- evreryone in this episode acted as if they were ready for the loony bin. Pure claptrap.
False Paradise (1948)
one of the best
One of the best In the series - well written andacted. Boyd is at the top of his game in his role as Hoppy I prefer. Hayden as " Lucky " but this guy is ok-plus Andy does not compare with Gabby but he is decent.
Mad Men: Shut the Door. Have a Seat (2009)
Top Drawer
What is there to say that has not already been said-After some filler and lackluster episodes, MM returns to its former glory with a bang.- Superlative acting and writing.
They knocked this one out of the park !!!
Doc Martin: It's Good to Talk (2015)
luv it , luv it -Finally .....
After a coupla average episodes , the writers come thru with a stellar episode- Finally someone confronts Louisa with her problems in the relationship and while at first she seems In denial much like her man Martin she seems to realize this at the end of the episode. Bert and his son Al have a very well written Father and son talk too as usual writing and acting are superb -next episode looks to be great also.
Doc Martin: The Shock of the New (2015)
crowbar
Another rather lackluster episode with a little bit of comedy but not enough to bring It to a rating of no more than 5 for me.
Louisa and Ruth each need a crowbar to pull their head out of their arse.
Louisa , get a clue - you married a doctor and obviously he loves you very much so quit being such a selfish wench & Ruth , grow up for heavens sake.
Doc Martin: Listen with Mother (2013)
Louisa goes off ....
Almost every female character Is unsufferable. Ruth Is holier than thou with Martin's mom. Morwenna Is ditzy and full of herself. And Louisa has turned Into a.harpy -not knowing what she wants and again putting Martin In an uncomfortable situation and of course blaming him for the results-he Is right -nobody Is happy all the time. So , what does she do, she selfishly leaves Martin to go her mom who Is as bad as Martin's. - hope the show gets better.
Doc Martin: Nobody Likes Me (2013)
Very Enjoyable
Quite entertaining. Plot lines are very well developed and once again the writing ,acting and direction are all superb. The only reason I did not rate It a ten was due to the repeated Louisa supermom routine- for heavens sake If you want to have more quality time with James Henry then you have to cut back on work and why do they keep trying to make Martin someone he is clearly not-wears a bit then-otherwise top-flight episode.
Doc Martin: Sickness and Health (2013)
Lol !!
Stupid , but funny episode - Martin & Louisa do their best Penhale and Bert routine . Superb writing , making the most absurd situations funny. Great acting also.
Doc Martin: Cats and Sharks (2011)
despite the Insufferable ...
Despite the Insufferable Eleanor and the cat lady plus Louisa's Irritating attitude , this was a very enjoyable episode - Especially Joe Penhale - I won't spoil It ,but let's Just say he does have the right stuff in him to be a good constable and even heroic.
Spooks: Infiltration (2007)
back to back
Two dogs In a row. Back to back dog awful episodes In a row. I can only hope Spooks returns to Its excellence once again. I rated this and the previous episode at one. If I could have, I would have entered negative number ratings. It Is very unbelievable and the characters they have so beautifully developed suddenly go completely out of character. One has become a lying traitor..The only believable dialog was comparing Democrats to Communists.
You Only Live Twice (1967)
Not bad ,but Connery Is tired
Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed this movie. But , having said that It Is painfully obvious that Sean Is tired of playing Bond. He came back strong In " Diamonds Are Forever" and I thoroughly enjoyed him In " Never Say Never Again " .
Gets a 6.5 from me.
