I considered this movie as a waste of my 2.5 hours and a waste of my $$$.
A movie needs to offer entertainment, humor, educational value, excellent acting skills, human interest, fantasy or any combination thereof to be appreciated. This movie offered none.
Perhaps I'm either becoming too old, too selective, discriminating or persnickety for such a frivolous waste of time which was neither funny nor entertaining. Of the movies released this year very few in retrospect were worth viewing or handing over my hard earned money imho. I did like Grand Torino.
This new group of 2009 movies must be directed towards the 16-18 age category which is fine I guess for them. The producers don't expect those that are somewhat older to buy into the immature non-humorous plot line.

Sorry I just saw this movie on Blu-ray DVD and found it so bad that I had to comment. Frankly I can't imagine who would invest their money in such a movie. Everything, from the phony special effects, to the plot line, to the characters, to their ongoing absurd childish dialogue, was far fetched and unbelievable.
From the start, which showed snow capped mountains at the WV Appalachian mining site, the viewer knew this movie was going to be unbelievable.
I really think this movie was test run by the movie industry to cut costs by having the writing, production and direction done by sixth graders as a class project.
