Wayward Pines (2015)
mixed feelings
I give it 7 edging on 6, and it is not because of the plot itself - OK i was not expecting science fiction when viewing first couple of episodes, and then I can agree with some reviews that the main idea behind the story has holes.
but this i can live with. what really started annoying me were the details that made big chunks of the episodes just plain stupid and i believe that could be avoided.
First of all the fence that surrounds the city - leaving behind the fact that it lasted 2000 years in good shape being subject to natural elements - how we are supposed to believe that this fortress can be easily breached by a standard truck in seconds? And no alarm is set of? No guards appear? Whole city is surveillanced and the wall is not? And somewhat connected - the explosives / pipe bombs, we are expected to believe that a single home made bomb is able to destroy fortified wall - OK, lets say it is somehow super engineered, but then the same bomb goes off in the truck, with 2 people very next to it and they survive with moderate wounds? Of course i could name couple more examples, but those just made the worst impression. i can;t understand why someone did not make a small effort to make it more realistic and believable? To sum up OK series, not a must see but decent enough. Thanks god that they finish it with 10 episodes and not renew for a 2nd series. That would be plain insanity.
The Fall (2013)
Exciting till you see the season 2
I gave it a 6 however to be more precise i would score first series 8 and the second maybe 4. I need to admit that i did not make it through all 6 episodes of that one... my wife did quit after seeing the second one and i gave up after third reassured me that it all goes from one absurd to another and the story goes nowhere!
What an opportunity wasted! It is clear for me that this particular story had enough potential for one series, and it should have ended right there.
The producers could have followed the pattern of drafting another villain for 2nd series, copycat maybe that would be more devious and cunning then the one portrayed.
instead they chose to follow up with same guy, adding just some semi-superpowers that allow him to fool the whole police force and poor Gillian that is left with just the surprise on her face...
My advise for you viewer is to see the 1st series, and then drop the idea of going for the 2nd - there is just nothing there and what is even more frightening is that they seem to think 3rd one is a good idea
Due Date (2010)
6.8 out of 10? really!?
I am going to keep it extremely short, as i feel that i already wasted enough time watching this movie.
What can I say, laughed maybe 2-3 times, and i should add that there were more instances that i was rather disconcerted than entertained.
Not one character in this movie deserves to be called funny. Jokes - let me just say that there are gags including weed, masturbation and drinking "coffe" made out of s/o ashes. I think that you'll get the picture.
I sometimes try out and watch comedies that have 4/10 on IMDb,and they are sometimes 100% better than this one here.
To sum it up - i am very disappointed!
Dom zly (2009)
Dark and disturbing in a positive way
This movie is telling a story that could happen anywhere - if anywhere is Poland or any other communist country. The way how the things happen will remind you that the human kind has its dark side that comes out way too easily! From my point of view it is one of the most interesting new polish movies, the plot is not obvious - or at least how it goes is not, it has integrity and all the right elements any movie should have. My only complaint would be that there are to many side stories included to the main story. Not all are relevant, and some quite hard to digest and understand.
If you like strong and heavy stuff - that makes you think about the condition of the human kind, you will find some in this movie.
I can recommend this title if you would like to see (or just remind yourself) how the things were done in communist Poland.
Torchwood (2006)
brainless scriptwriters ruin the 1st season
it had a potential, i think but some of the facts and actions we can see in the series are just horrible, and ruin it for me.
how come torchwood base can be accessed by nearly anyone -eg pizzawomen:/ it has got all the deadlocks gates etc, but it gets infiltrated in any other episode also the team is just so weak that it hurts, how can they be defenceless against any enemy, they prevail only because capt jack comes to the rescue! they can't use the guns they hold, know no martial arts, and gwen cooper is a total idiot being sooo sympathetic to every alien, maniac etc that she jeopardizes the operation ,hers and others lives to sum up if great britains last resort of defence is torchwood, there is no hope!
