This is my least favorite movie of
Park Chan-wook. He has made some great movies and some very good ones. THIRST is not a very good movie, definitely not a MUST WATCH, although it's far from bad and i still liked it. It's well acted, well directed, there is creativity here and it was suspensful. I was curious to see where it goes, i empathized with the leading characters, there were many exciting moments and the ending was touching.
Still, it was incohesive, messy and chaotic and not always in a good way. I watched the Director's cut, it was 146 minutes and it was far too long. I don't believe that the Theatrical cut would be much better, because i would cut at least 30 minutes. Pace was not good, at times i was losing my interest, overall it was an interesting movie but occasionally, it was a bit boring.

This is one of the best action movies i have watched recently. It's kinda original and creative. There is not an almost mythical creature like John Wick who could kill tenths of men in the blink of an eye. First of all, protagonist is not even a good guy, he's a dirty cop, although as the movie progresses, he becames progressively likeable. Furthermore, he is not a superhuman but totally vulnerable and beatable. So, there is a fair amount of realism here but at the end of the day, don't expect some gritty, realistic drama, this is still an entertaining, action movie with a lot of "what the hell" moments.
And that's the reason i gave it a high rating. It's very entertaining and kept me on the edge of my seat. A fun ride, exciting and intense all the way, without ever being too sad or bleak, as many action/crime Korean movies (Not that there's something wrong with this. HARD DAY is just different).

I have watched 5 Fellini movies and i intend to watch his entire filmography. This one is by far my less favorite movie of his. By no means AMARCORD is a bad movie, i liked it and i think that most of cinephiles will like it too. But i can't say this is great, even very good. It felt a bit shallow, even pointless at times. Occasionally, it was amazing, there are many sequences that made me think a lot, this is beautifully shot, actors were great and i get what he's doing here. This movie is representing his life, and Life itself is not cinema, life is both interestinf and boring, complicated and simple. Most people lives are not that exciting, everyday life is something like this, simple people dealing with simple things. Most people are not heroes, even though life is a battlefield and a man capable of dealing with this, is admirable as well. AMARCORD is about the little things and the ordinary people. I am glad i watched it because Fellini is a great Artist, making every shot a story which deserves to be seen. But i can't love a movie like this, because there is nothing unforgettable here. Nothing amazing, nothing too sad or too beautiful.
Still, an Ode to Humanity is nothing to be ignored. Maybe i will appreciate this movie as time passes by.
