State Property (2002)
An OK movie
Not the greatest, not the worst. Its more likely based off of Scarface. I don't see how other people call it a knockoff of Goodfellas or Boondock Saints. ITS EXACTLY LIKE SCARFACE. He goes from nothing to everything, then being killed in a gun battle in the final scene of the movie. Acting could have been better and the movie is too short to be any great gangster film. 4/10
Fools Rush In (1997)
Wise Men Say...
I love this movie. As a guy, I am not afraid to say this is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's simply outstanding. Both Matthew Perry and Selma Hayek have great on-screen chemistry and I doubt that anyone else in the industry has the same. I love it. I've seen it like 10 times now and just saw it again tonight. Its heart warming and I love how it shows the differences between two cultures and how the differences can be overcome. I do not like, as another user said, that they do not say the name of the baby, but I think it should 'Faith'. Makes sense, and it's a real pretty name too. But anyways, the movie is awesome and should have won some awards. My cable provider only gave it 1 and 1/2 stars, which is WAY off, and irritates me. Great Love Story, and if only I had girl like Isabel. 5 out 5 stars
The New Guy (2002)
Cliche
This movie is horrible. Just like any other teen movie that was sub par. The acting is bad, the plot is not there, it is badly directed and even worse its all been done before. This is nothing more than a few teen movies blazened into one pathetic attempt at comedy. The only funny part was the broke dick scene. The ending was incredibly predictable with Dizzy being exposed as a loser from another school. The football scenes were incredibly over done. Highschool football plays on FRIDAY only, yet they showed 5-6 games, meaning 5-6 weeks have gone bye. Dizzy also said that Homecoming was two weeks away from the day after the first game he went too. Also, State Championships are played in a respectable stadium, like the AstroDome, seeing as they are in Texas, not at another highschool. This movie could have been done WAY better. All in all, it was horrible. I watched it the first time for enjoyment, second time for critique. i give this a * out of ****.
Stranger Than Fiction (2000)
Some bad acting, but it does not ruin this film.
Stranger Than Fiction is aptly title. It is an outstanding movie with a little bad acting, but it is good enough to keep from ruining the movie. It is a great entertaining movie with more twists than a medium sized roller coaster. Sometimes the actors in the movie will irritate you with their constant screaming about something they just did, when they are in some kind of private place. It is a pretty funny movie. I saw it on TV and the information said it was a Thriller with lots of plot twists. But they did not say how extremely funny this movie really is. If you love thrillers, and spur of the moment type comedy, you will love this movie. 8/10
A Bronx Tale (1993)
Simply Put, It is Amazing *Spoilers*
When the movie first started, I was thinking to myself "Goodfellas". But as the movie progressed on, I was literally shocked at how wrong I was. The movie is just plain Awesome. You like to hate the mob bosses, but not in this movie. He reminds me of Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon, the way you hate him, then love him. It changes that quick. Chaz looks like a mean guy in the movie, and it feels like you would dislike him because he befriends the kid and is always around him. All you can think during the movie is "Please do not let this kid turn out like Sonny" And thats exactly what happens. "C" is a kid that actually listens to his dad and Sonny. Through the whole movie, you think he is going turn out to be a thug, but he doesn't. The movie is just great. One of the best I have ever seen. Totally different ending than is expected, sad ending also.
Gotti (1996)
Fast paced for a reason
This movie was good in only one aspect, it was a true story. The movie could have been better if it went more into detail about the characters and the drama going on around them. I found myself often trying to think of who was who and what was going on. 2 examples of this, is D.B. I only found out who D.B. was when he knocked on the door and said his name. Another example is the 2nd trial Gotti is in. I had no idea what was going on there. If the movie went into more detail about the smaller things, I would have liked it alot more. I often found that even though the movie was fast paced, I still became bored and felt like a scene would drudge on forever. MY final rating is a 5 out 10.
