I had the pleasure of watching "Disfigura" at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival and absolutely fell in love with this film!
If you enjoy a little film-noir, mid-century macabre moralism, you'll love it as much as I do.
First off, the performances were dynamic with a careful attention to Transatlantic accents that fit the genre and tone. (Not an easy feat)! Oh, and, c'mon--brilliant casting of Doug Jones. He was the perfect host.
You'll be immersed in the period through the production design, hair/make-up, costuming and music.
I particularly loved the exploration of mid-century ideas of female physical strength and exercise. It's a powerful commentary tying age-old stereotypes with modern outdated views of women's appearance and identity.

"A New Year's Ride" is a charming feature that allows its story and talent to shine through organic improv performances, impressive cinematography and relationship dynamics that can be appreciated all year-round.
None of it feels forced or phony--it has a cheerful elegance that takes you on a ride through snapshots of other's life stories and drops you off at your destination wanting more.
ANYR is a shining example of the creativity that can come from a small, dedicate production team and limited budget. I hope that there will be a sequel in the near future. We could all enjoy more stories like these!
