This isn't ever going to be deemed as a classic sitcom. The show never was even released on DVD, which is saying something.
I've only seen episodes online, with rather varying picture quality, but this seems to be a perfectly fine, run of the mill sitcom, like so many others that were made at the time.
It's got a nice enough premise, it's well-written on the whole, and the cast seem game.
For whatever reason it just never really caught on enough to be deemed worthy of a second go around. I'm not sure that the lead was much of a sitcom leading man, so perhaps that was a factor.
Fine enough though.

I have fond memories of being shown this as a child.
Actually, let me rephrase that - I have fond memories of the very catchy theme song and how my mother would (and still does) sing a long to it, knowing every single word.
The actual game itself remains a bit of a mystery, and from watching clips again online looks totally bizarre.
It's certainly not the sort of format I image people are rushing to reboot in 2025 based on our troubled times across the world.
Of course I must add RIP Henry Kelly too, as he has passed not long ago at the time of me writing this review. He managed to make a bizarre format look stellar.

I write this a couple of days after the very sad passing of Michelle Trachtenberg and like a lot of people I'm sure, I'm going back over her far to short list of credits.
While I think towards the end she didn't like to be reminded of her child/teen acting roles, there's no doubting her talent here. She carries the film and is highly endearing, displaying a lovely sense of empathy and comic timing.
It's such a shame we never got to really make it consistently as the star her fans knew her really to be of the potential of being.
We will just have to let her live on through films such as this.
