L'avvocato (2003)
Very interesting TV series
`L'Avvocato' is one of the first example of drama-fiction produced by Swiss Italian Television. This series chronicles the private and public life of a lawyer in a small border town (Lugano). His personal life is at a turning point. As for the cases he handles, their deep underlying implications require much more than professional skills. Well acted and well written, this series shows that, even with a small budget, you can make good television.
Visceral Matter (1997)
Not as bad as it sounds
I've finally seen this short by Richard Kelly. I'm a huge Donnie Darko fan and I wanted to see the beginnings of this incredibly talented writer/director. Well it's a pretty goofy short with bad acting and all, but you can see that behind it, there's a person who can use his brain. There are several nice ideas and it's also very funny. My advice: see it not expecting too much, you could be surprised.
Schizopolis (1996)
Pure genius
Schizopolis is more than a movie, it's a turning point in the history of cinema. It's creativity at its best. It's a wonderful piece of art that make you think over and over again. You laugh, you don't understand, then you like a song put in a certain moment, then you think you understand everything, then you see Elmo Oxygen and then... then you think "I've never saw anything like this before". And you are happy.
Short Cuts (1993)
Please note these 2 enormous goofs
SPOILERS When the kid is hit by the car, he actually stay 10 meters ahead of the the car. In fact when the woman reaches the kid on the ground she runs a few second before she reach him. Altman hoped in perspective, which normally helps, but not that much!
When the mother finds the cello player who committed suicide, she is supposed to be dead, but she evidently moves her left hand, touching her hairs.
Aside: why the hell Chris Penn do kill the girl? There's no reason at all!
However I consider Short Cuts a really great movie, the father of Magnolia. The scene with full frontal nudity of Julianne Moore is outstanding.
