The Cure for Boredom (2001)
SPOILER -- fascinating but does not end
In some ways this is a fascinating movie. They've tried to take several different lives that start out unrelated and have them sort of gradually bump up against each other, so it's sort of like cooking, you add this and that and eventually you wind up with this great dish. Only problem is, in this movie they never finished cooking the dish. A mobster's son gets murdered (iced, whacked, bumped off, whatever) by a couple of other mobsters. Meanwhile, a couple of waitresses are very unhappy about being waitresses, and one of them is drunk. Meanwhile, a couple of slacker type guys are very bored and one of them wants to have sex. As the mobster tries to find the guys who whacked his son and the waitresses wander here and there and the guys wander around, their paths cross, and eventually they all become part of the same story. BUT... and this is a very big BUT (SPOILER SPOILER), whoever did this movie can't cook, they never finished the dish, they just turned off the stove and went away. The movie builds to an exciting climax and then it just STOPS. I hated that. It really really made me mad. Why would they do that?
