Maniac (1980)
Don't miss it
This is one of a few movies that really made me feel uncomfortable to see (and that doesn't happen often). It is something about the whole atmosphere that is so dark and disturbing.
Another thing that also makes it so disturbing is the way we follow the killer's thoughts in the movie. Joe Spinell plays Frank perfectly. The effects are amazing and there's plenty of gore too. The only thing I can complain about is how much the ending reminded me of "Carrie" with the hand coming out of the grave.
Otherwise it's great and I definitely recommend it for horror, gore fans.
Torka aldrig tårar utan handskar (2012)
Wonderful and important
This is probably the most beautiful thing I've seen on SVT (Swedish television). I'm from Sweden, but I'm not much into Swedish movies or series. The reason is that there are always the same actors and they aren't that good either. Swedish movies have disappointed me so many times that I'm not interested anymore.
However, this is an exception from that. This had to be made because of its important message. The author certainly wanted to criticize, but at the same time tell a love story. The result is so beautiful. All the actors are brilliant.
One can't help but get moved by seeing what happens to these young guys. How their families are denying the truth about their are homosexuality even at their funerals and denies the reasons to their deaths. At the same time it is not only sad but wonderful to see them together, their friendship and love. I really love those parts when they celebrate Christmas together every year. Paul stays happy until the end and keeps the group together.
I strongly recommend this.
Porno Holocaust (1981)
Don't expect much horror
The reason I decided to see this movie was because of the combination of sex and violence. Personally, this movie is not recommended for the violence because it's not until the ending that the killer actually shows up. Indeed that makes me a little disappointed, maybe it was wrong that I expected something from it.
All people except the black girl are killed and I won't complain about the effects because I know it is low budget. The movie ends happy after all so they can have some nice time together once again.
This is nothing for a horror fan. Watch it for the horny parts because that is what this movie is about.
...E tu vivrai nel terrore! L'aldilà (1981)
Some parts were good
I'm gonna be honest. This is a bad movie in my opinion. I really like Italian horror & giallo movies because of the gore and they have often very brutal killings. "The Beyond" is no exception from that, I like the gore in it even if the effects aren't great.
I like the scene where Liza meets Emily on that road. It's somehow dreamlike and abstract and made me doubt if that really happened or if it's an hallucination she has.
Somehow I don't get the plot or I find it quite boring. Dead people come back to life and people who dies by accidents become zombies that don't die that easily.
They end up in a painting painted by that man that died in that house a long time ago or does the world become like the painting? The ending could have been better because I think something more could have happened to give it a better ending, suddenly it just ends.
I give it 7/10 because of the gory parts and the actors who were pretty good. It has some good scenes and I liked that Suspiria like scene where the dog suddenly bites Emily in her neck.
Suspiria (1977)
Nightmarish masterpiece
This really is a masterpiece. I realize more and more after each time I see it how Argento is giving us clues about what will happen before it actually happens and when the music is getting louder and louder then you know that something will happen but you don't know what and get prepared for something gory but at the same time beautiful. The music is one reason why this movie is so disturbing, but it fits so well with what happens.
So the whole movie really is like a disturbing nightmare that you never wake up from. The architecture and environment is fantastic with all red colors that somehow makes me think of blood. Even that the blood has that unnatural red color makes it so nightmarish. Actually it isn't an interesting story and it's quite short also but that doesn't matter much. Jessica Harper is really good in this movie, but there are some actors that I don't think are so good in it.
I like how it starts at the airport with the music and the storm. Something happens already in the beginning and it's never boring because you know that something can happen anytime, like a dog suddenly bite his owner by no reason.
I give this movie 10/10 because I really think this is a beautiful movie, it is definitely worth watching.
