The basic premise of the show is a pond that allows people to travel to the past at times that are significant to the people involved.
Considering what's on tv at the moment this show follows an old fashioned storyline that's been done before so it's wholesome and one of those shows you watch and don't come away feeling drained. Basically it's simple and enjoyable but could have been so much better with a few changes. So many episodes are incredibly boring and rehash the same thing over and over with no advance in the storyline.
We have the main family with a grandmother, daughter and granddaughter where the daughter begins the time travel journey. She doesn't tell anyone until the granddaughter falls in the pond and begins her time travel experience.
There is so much wrong with the actual storyline but honestly, these type of shows aren't documentaries so it's easier to ignore the discrepancies and just go along for the ride . It is a tad aggravating when the main characters jump in the pond and are rarely wet when they catch up with their respective targets in the past. At the moment I have just paused an episode to write this because Alice, the granddaughter has just time traveled wearing a sheep skin collared coat which is completely dry. I know, I'm being pedantic but these are the times when it's wise to ignore the obvious inaccurate scenes but did the producers think it's not worth making the effort to be accurate because viewers won't notice.. which seems to be the case.
Andy McDowell is the grandmother and her character is awful. She is miserable all of the time and there is absolutely no joy in the woman. One of the main characters is Colton her husband, but he died many years prior but we get to know who he is due to the constant time traveling. Del, Andy McDowells character was married to Colton and it seems she was always a miserable person and not likeable at any age.. which I find sad. I'm wondering if the character is meant to be so miserable or Andy McDowell is reflecting her own misery into the role because she sucks the life out of every scene. It's great to have a diverse range of characters but Del is so depressing.
The Way Home is enjoyable when you don't want to think about anything and don't want to come away feeling anything..I really don't understand why producers don't make the extra effort to fix the storyline etc. Because this could have been such a good show with a little more effort and attention placed on reality and the storyline. It wouldn't have taken that much to make this show fantastic with a few changes to the storyline and attention to the details so I don't understand why they fell short and didn't bother.
But, if you can get through the episodes where nothing happens except the same pond jumping thing.. a visit to the past then nothing.. we then get episodes where the storyline progresses slightly.. If you want to switch off for an hour this show is for you!

Ok, I have watched 2 episodes of The White Lotus season 3 in Thailand and was very excited because I practically live in Thailand and love it.
The characters are all extremely boring so far and it's like watching paint dry. The storyline is awful so far.. a family goes to Thailand because the daughter has to do a project on monks.. the mothers accent continually changes and at times is so bad.. I'm even bored writing this because the characters and storyline is so bad.. it's like watching people at an extremely boring health resort do nothing..
This is not a genuine depiction of Thailand, even the accents are not as pronounced..and the first person we see is Indian not Thai.. which is disappointing.. because I love the Thai people..

This is a different take of the original Day of the Jackal but Eddie is so damn good he makes the series gripping. Lashana plays the female cop chasing The Jackal but she isn't the best actor and isn't convincing as a weapons expert or a cop. The storyline makes her character highly unlikable because she is directly responsible for innocent peoples deaths and she doesn't care and she is supposed to be on the good side. The Jackals wife and family are just awful and so annoying and didn't really need to be in the series.
I was so surprised that Eddie was such a superb actor and this role showed his amazing range. I wanted the Jackal to win and get away.. although he did kill a lot of innocent people I still wanted him to succeed.
I hope they make another season because this was such an entertaining show.. and I love seeing The Jackal plan and execute his missions.. I must admit a lot of the scenarios were exaggerated and impossible and The Jackal always got away but the entertainment value is amazing.. and I am very critical and usually don't enjoy over the top unbelievable situations but I just loved this show.. because Eddie was so damn good..
