Well, I have to admit that I (like most of the people from Holland) think most of the Dutch movies are plain bad. Seriously. Most of the time, I even got a good reason for that because most Dutch movies are bad. But it wouldn't be fair if I'd call this movie bad.
Phileine zegt sorry is a very good movie to Dutch standards. OK, Ronald Giphart is definitely not the most literal Dutch writer and he really overuses sex in his books, but isn't that typical for Dutch writers? In fact, aren't Dutch movies known for that too? Turkish Delight is a good Dutch movie, yet has a lot of sex in it. Oh well, I think I should tell you what makes me like this movie, not what makes it less bad.
I think Kim van Kooten is great as Phileine. OK, she might overdo the bitchiness sometimes, but most of the time the girl's just good. She has a good timing for one-liners and even though even I (as a 16 year old... No, we're not brainless) think Ronald Giphart overuses cursing in his books, Kim van Kooten makes Phileine enjoyable to look at and listen to.
I really like the movie's soundtrack, as, throughout the movie, it just seems to fit in the place where it is.
I like a lot of the scenes in the movie, as I think there's enough emotion in it to make it an enjoyable movie. Yes, call me crazy, but I thought the end-scene was very emotional. This might be because I'm still young and I have no life-experience whatsoever, or something, but just because I'm a teenager doesn't mean I'm emotionless.
But there are some bad points in the movie too. For example, the dutch actors that pretend to be American. Bad English or American accents in a movie really irritate me, and because a lot of Dutch people don't have a perfect English accent I don't think they should be portrayed as English or American. I found this especially annoying in Kenan Raven's case. But then again, I think Kenan Raven is annoying to begin with. His face looks completely emotionless to me.
I thought some scenes in the movie were pointless. For example, you had Gulpje and the guy from the restaurant. The whole restaurant scene was rather pointless, just like a few other scenes.
But I liked most of the movie. I don't think everyone will like it as it's dutch and therefore a bit sexistic, but I do recommend it to people my age.
7/10.

I honestly really loved this movie. It's one of the best and real movies i've ever seen. It really touched me (and hardly any movie actually touches me). The movie makes me very glad that i don't live in USA, and i don't think it will make me want to move there too. I'm still at high-school myself, and i'm very glad that things like that don't happen at our school. Yes, my French teacher can be really mean sometimes and yes, i'm sure there were people on our school who used to get bullied, but people like the bullies at the school in the movie really need help, there is something wrong with them! I think it's great that it's shown that those mean people also have feelings: you see the worst bully back off when his brother tells him about the girl they raped. I also think it's great that the movie confronts the people with the fact at the ending, all the kids who killed people at school really freaked me out.
The only thing i didn't like was that it was such a short movie! Only 87 minutes. But i still give this movie a 9.8 out of 10, at least! Brilliant, completely underrated movie, i think anyone who is interested in these kind of stories should see this movie.

I think it's a shame this movie has been produced in 2004, if it would've been produced 20 years ago, it would definitely have more people who would actually want to see that movie. But a lot of kids (which probably is the group it's made for) don't even know what the thunderbirds are, and they've had enough of the Spy Kids (the spy kids are annoying), so they don't want to see this movie.
And that's why i don't get why it's released now. I didn't think the movie was that bad, it just was a shame that this is not about the real thunderbirds but about their kids, and i just don't like Brady Corbet. If this would've been about the real thunderbirds, and would've been a little less Spy-Kid-like it would also attract people who used to love thunderbirds and want to see a movie of it now, it would've been seen by way more people.
And i don't think that letting Busted sing the soundtrack *thunderbirds are go* was that smart too. I love Busted, but Busted's only really famous in England, Ireland and China, and that are not the only countries where the movie is released. And with giving Busted the soundtrack, they are trying to get girls my age *around 14, 15 years old* to the cinema, and we don't want to see a movie about Thunderbirds. Well, if you like Brady Corbet, you do, but otherwise you don't.
It's also a shame that in the Netherlands, it wasn't the original version with a subtitle, but it was totally in Dutch, which makes that no-one actually still wants to see this movie...
