If I could have given this movie 0 stars, I would have, and I really came here to review it because I want to warn people away from it. Unless you're a huge Kevin Smith fan and absolutely must see everything he writes, stay away from Tusk. It isn't funny.
I really got tired of Canadian stereotypes a long time ago. Canadians aren't porn star-mustache wearing, backwoods hillbillies. We don't say "eh" or "aboot" any more than all Americans say "ya'll, or its plural "all y'all".
If you don't know anything about Canada, don't write about it. And don't film a movie that supposedly takes place in Manitoba, in North Carolina. That's like filming a movie that takes place in Iowa, in California, with palm trees in the background. Iowa, by the way, is only an 8 hour drive from Winnipeg, and would have made a better backdrop.
And I'm sorry, the premise is ridiculous. Human Centipede wasn't as bad as this. At least the centipede is not impossible. A walrus. Really? I wasn't sure if this were supposed to be funny, or some kind of "horror" film...because it is neither.

In order for me to really like a movie (or a book), I have to care about the characters. I want to empathize with them. In this case, I didn't, and ended up liking the bad boy more than the two "good guys" (who are, together, perhaps the most boringly flat couple I have ever seen.) The plot was so predictable, I knew what the supposed twist was going to be as soon as I saw her walk onto the screen. The only part I really enjoyed was watching the sexy villain stalk everyone and look menacing. He can come stalk me, if he likes.
The wife, Cheryl, was a vapid character, and the actress who played her should learn not to overact. And Sam Gamgee. Well...never mind. It was just poor casting all around, except for the lovely bad boy, who didn't really have to say anything anyway.
I gave it 3 stars, just because of him. If you have nothing, I mean nothing, else to do on a Sunday evening, perhaps watch this. You will be missing nothing if you pass it by.
