Obviously missing those of a younger disposition there is a gentleness throughout this. The actors throughout are fantastic, and you can see they had a great time doing this. It also does a great job of creating complex human personalities, friendships, and in the case of Robin and the Sheriff possibly the best Sheriff. Their aged 20 year later relationship is fantastic with the two giants of screen Connery and Shaw, not going on about sharks but still recognising his and Robin's own mortality. Likewise Connery and Hepburn - a believable long term not seen each other for years. And Connery and Nicols (THE MERLIN!!!!). Beautiful writing - even up to the end with loads of throw away quotable lines just how Lester always manages to deliver which rings true to my and mines life, which possibly helps.
End is typical of it's time "t'dah the end" which is a shame as it doesn't quite have the run time.
I'm really not sure why this isn't a more recognised film, but then Lester is never that recognised and he always strikes a chord with me from the only Muskateers adaptions worth their salt, and Royal Flash - that winding of the serious and humour, what more could you want?
I suspect it needs a heart to watch it, which is obviously quite lacking in the world.

As a fan of Stephen King I have never been that impressed with Pet Sematary, as a book or as the original movie. This continues it's run of being one of the more mediocre of the stories.
The original version isn't great to the point that only having watched it in the last year I hardly remember it.
The 2019 version is held up by a genuinely great cast who get screentime, and a script/direction that allows them room to be liked first - again casting likable people to begin with.
That's not to say this isn't a likeable cast, in the main this is one of the strongest points, along with some great writing choices on how to expand the original story.
But for all this it just doesn't quite hang together and by the end it's becoming the prevalent in the US media: death driven scripting: "I want this person to die so they will do something stupid"...
Part of the problem is "too many" cast members, so you don't get enough time with them, or ever particularly care about them.
Worth a watch, not the worse film by any stretch, and I didn't feel like I'd wasted 1.5hours of my life.
Hopefully a good learning step for all involved in what average looks like and how to do better.

Casting and Acting is great - set design a bit too CGI but it was 2017 and how else are you going to do the door?
Pretty sure Matthew McConaughey could have played it a bit less pantomime, but I'm not sure he quite gets it, although some of the best bits are the throwaway lines "pretty face" for instance - which I feel genuinely touches on King's continued review of the human race: literally facile.
Direction on the action scenes are great - but it feels mightily compressed - which it is. They're cramming bits from various books.
The Man In Black is weirdly overpowered and much more classical bad guy, whereas in the books he's more the man behind the power.
Fan Service rubbish - there's lots of it, from the constant repeat of the opening line, to bits from random books jammed together in a very "next reference" manner. It feels very Disney in this writing... and we knew it was bad back then.
At least you don't get any of the awkwardist sex scenes known to man - King needs to stop writing sex scenes... please... I've been reading his books nearly 40 years... they don't get any better.
Is it great to have more Stephen King on screen - course it is, but it needs more respect.
Did we know it was going to be bad? It's a book to film translation which is never a good sign, and in this case it's 7/8 books to film translation as you try to cram in 4000 pages into 100 pages (standard for a movie). No surprise it doesn't really work then.
