Bullet Head (2017)
Dogs!
First up. Love dogs... hate dog fighting!
Back to the film....
Adrien Brody, John Malkovich and Rory the Culkin that can act, and dogs! I'm in! That Spanish guy is in there too but I can't remember if he speaks.
This is a very underrated little film (5.4 currently). It absolutely reeks of Quentin Tarentino (think Reservoir Dogs.... dogs again!). Chit chat Tarentino.
The three leads play their parts perfectly. I'd expect nothing less from them.
And the other stars... the dogs! Except the fighting bit. Grrrrrr.
That poodle was worth it.
I have to commend the writers and director... and Quentin Tarentino who clearly influenced them.
The Secret Genius of Modern Life (2022)
Perfectly done
A fantastic series of programmes which delves into the creation and history of a variety of objects and technologies, some common like the vacuum cleaner or trainer, others not so common like biometrics in a passport.
The programme is hosted by the wonderful Hannah Fry - Professor Hannah Fry! She earned the title so, unlike another reviewer, I think she is entitled to use it. (Same goes for Alice Roberts!).
Hannah's ability to make sometimes complicated inventions and technologies easy to understand make this programme accessible to most veiwers (again, I disagree with same reviewer on this. What is the point of making a programme that people don't understand? It's entertainment!).
Thoroughly enjoyable and informative and highly recommended. 10/10.
The Grudge (2019)
Andrea Riseborough !
This is a bit of a mish mash and seems to be made up from half a dozen bits of stories. We get a lot of little, often irrelevant, vignettes all tied to one main character played by....
Andrea Riseborough!
This very talented actress, and ok very pretty one, raises this film from probably a 3 out of 10 to a 6 out of 10. You would be well advised to look her up on other things she's been in. Even has an Oscar nomination! How she ended up in this is beyond me. And she doesn't even get top bolling on IMDb!
On the up side,....
It looks good
There's a few, more than a few, jump scares. Some predictable though.
The CGI works
and Andrea Riseborough! She's worth watching. 👍
The Great Wall (2016)
A spectacle not to be missed!
It's not without flaws, and not my genre, but this is a stunning film to watch. Lot of CGI and camera trickery in here but not in a B movie way. It this is your thing... you'll love it. Not my thing... and I did.
Baldrick.
Spitting Image: Christmas Special (2021)
Dissapointing
Was looking forward to this but so disappointed. Lame effort from two past legends. Few laughs but not enough. Some of the puppets are unrecognizable and some are out of date. I'd enjoy reruns of the original series than this. At least then we knee who they all were!
Sherlock Holmes (2010)
What the heck?
I lasted 10 minutes. Nothing could keep me watching it!
