I just watched it accidentally on a lonely Saturday. Movie blew me away! The writing, camera work, music and performances of movie crew is nothing short to a masterpiece. Don't know how Academy awards ignored this. But I am sure this movie will be remembered as one of the classics. One could relate this to Tarantino's Once upon a time in Hollywood. The theme is same but this movie is more lively and colourful. The characters might sound little comical.. But that is how they supposed to look like. The title is very apt considering rise and fall of Hollywood during great depression.. However the way it bounced back to its original glory just explains how love, passion never dies. The dialogue of film critic in the movie summarized whole purpose of this movie!!
Movie is packed with all necessary commercial elements. The main plot revolves around honour killing and caste system which is very rare to see in modern Kannada cinema. Movies like Bhootayyana maga Ayyu, Hemavathi,Janumada Jodi were few daring attempts and the that spark is now carried over to Hoysala movie.
We might get few shades of Koshiyum Ayyapunam, Kaithi, Dark Knight.. However those have been blended to match the story.
Message they want to convey is very strong and sensitive and I totally appreciate Director's choice to make this a commercial flick. The teams intention to subtle the impact with commercial elements is clever. The character Bhoomi cannot be the Shosanna Dreyfus as caste system in Karnataka is still deep rooted and its hard to burn it down in a movie theatre. Hence even to whisper against this deep rooted caste system, one must be courageous.
Additionally movie also speaks about role of media, duties of cops and helplessness of police due to corrupt system around them. Hoysala is a symbol of ideal police officer that our society needs. These ideals are necessary for modern youths. Thanks to the Hoysala team for providing necessary medicines sandwiched with all masala elements!

One of the worst court scenes (no logic).. Worst Facial expression of hero. When Heroin (Anita) speaks we feel like closing our ears!!
Songs.. They just created or forced a scenes to fit the songs... If we reverse engineer this, they actually worked on songs! Songs are really good and tried to knit the screenplay around those songs! Rated one cause Directed Prem fooled entire Karnataka! This movie is not something that any director of Prem's calibre even dream to make!!
