Yet another movie I don't get the hype around. I really struggled to stay awake. The pacing was so slow and so little happening at times. I didn't find it scary in any way. I understand its meant to be an old horror, but come on. Orlok was a huge disappointment too. I didn't find it romantic either. The cinematography and imagery of the movie was beautiful, but that's honestly the only good thing about it in my opinion. I do love Nicholas Hoult and his acting is always on point, but not even he could save it for me. Just really disappointed. Felt like joker all over again. Everyone seemed to love it and I thought it was pretty dreadful.
This was one of the movies that passed me by at the time of release. With the score on here, my hopes were high, but alas, they were dashed. I get the story. I get that it a lot of people can relate to it. I just didn't find it very funny. There were a handful of laugh out loud moments, but that was it for me. Maybe I missed the boat on it. Maybe it didn't age well, as I get that it's 24 years old now. There are other comedies that are older, that I still find hilarious though, so I'm not sure. I have to say, Gary Cole steals the show. He's an extremely underrated actor, who I first met in American Gothic in the 90s (if you haven't seen it, go watch it). Other than the last scene, I wondered why Milton was even in it, because I just found him annoying and very unfunny. All in all, its an OK movie, but think it scores much higher than it deserves.
