Cold Meat (2023)
It is overhyped terrible terrible movie
In a sea of movies, we often hit hidden gems, most of them pleasant to the eyes. It is common, likewise, that the gem turns out to be just glass after care polishing. Cold Meat starts strong with a great opening scene but lost itself in the long run. This movie is also a great example of false advertising. I had to rewatch the trailer to see if I was not going insane; is it that I completely misinterpreted the trailer altogether? Nope. The trailer advertising and the final cut are completely different stories. That would be fine if the final cut was at least interesting, but it isn't. Cold Meat starts with a voiceover telling of a legend about bad people and Nature's justice. Pay close attention to this info because you will only get to see it again by the end of the movie. Then we get to a great opening scene showing huge traits of characters David and Ana, our main characters in this mess of a story. I will give it that the acting is at least good and commendable. This scene is the only good thing about this story, like chewing a sweet gum that ends up spilling spicy pepper sauce all over your taste buds. The rest of the movie takes place in one setting without much happening, which would turn out interesting if the psychological aspect had better details. The dialogue is just plain and boring, not enough to keep us hooked. And yet, I persevered. I endured because I'm that person, I wanted to see the end of the tunnel. Turns out the light was a freight train coming my way. 90 minutes of downhill uninteresting plot points until a huge, unexpected Ex Machina, one that, although kinda foreshadowed, just comes out of nowhere, a cheating player or a breaking bug in a software. Had the movie used its own advertised premise as the main theme for the story, I think Cold Meat would have better chances. As it is, I can't see a valid redeeming factor about this story.
Conclave (2024)
Slow moving. Disjointed at times
Very good performances and the process of choosing a pope was interesting, but the script lacked because it never made you care about anyone or about the situation. There were no real stakes and the would-be Pope says it best when he admonishes the Conclave for being imploded and not having any sort of world view. I wanted to like this movie with all the great actors, but I did not. The story line was lacking a clear plot and wondered to much around with no story line. The ending was the worst. Two hours of purgatory! Movie tried to make suspense out of boring process. Fell asleep for a few minutes of relief from this torture.
Terrifier 3 (2024)
It just felt like a rushed, bloody montage with no heart
I was searching something to see at one of the scariest period of the year, but the result is that I left the cinema disgusted. The film use not any of the classical horror schematics like suspense or jumpscares, because the serial killer can easily walking around the city, in fact all the film characters are rappresented like idiots with any kind of survival sensation. We can say that is a splat type horror because 3/4 of the film is only horrific kills against anyone children and adults, in the little 1/4 I was thinking that the director or some writers was making a kind of story but was it very unclear in many situations like the final, is totally no sense. We I finally end to see it I saw that it was a huge copy and paste of scenes and reminders of classical horror movies. In conclusion I can say that this film was a marketing production that wants to make some money, I was thinking that this specific film was having some great ideas in a few situations but the director or the writers didn't gave them a good height. So I definitely don't recommend it.
Smile 2 (2024)
it does suffer from the "2nd entry" curse. It has good points, but the overall picture is a bit bland
Wow, standards for Horror movies have really dropped since I was a kid.... I found this movie to be disturbing but not in a great way. I get that the film is trying to be cute and smart by not letting the viewer know what's "real" and what's imagined/in Skye's mind (or contrived by the "Monstrosity"). Gore and jump scares don't make a movie great. Neither does this "trickery" whereby you are wondering if what the affected person sees is "real". The movie tried too hard to be artsy, but also tried to rely on those jump scares and gory effects too much. Simplify the premise, be more clear about what the "evil monstrosity" is (a metaphor for unresolved trauma I guess), let the viewer use imagination instead of throwing gore in our faces. For example, the original Halloween had just about 0% gore but is one of the scariest films ever made. I do love special effects - but when they are more warranted and effective and not gratuitous. This movie could have been a lot better if it were just simplified to rely on the premise. Lastly, I like Naomi Scott but she had the same look on her face maybe 75% of the film. I thought the first film did a much better job of showing what the affected.
Braveheart (1995)
Each time I watch Braveheart I feel grief and sadness, the memories
I'll never forget the day I first watched this movie I remember crying my eyes out at the scene where he screams "freedom". This movie is hands down the best warrior epic. It fully quantifies humanity in every regard. Hits on basically every character trait one can have through all of its different characters. And it really shows that with enough passion and conviction one can lead his people out of slavery, even if the people don't know that they are in fact slaves. This is how to make an Epic Movie! It has everything and THE BEST MOVIE of ALL TIME. Still rips at my heart, my soul, as tears roll down my face.
Outside (2024)
I'll make this simple. This film is bad. The End
It's not horror but it's a stupid film and psychotic. Too focus on domestic issues rather than adjusting to a post apocalyptic issues. Other zombie films were successful as their story focused on adjusting, surviving and staying alive. But this outside, its wanting to die due to stupid reasons in every screen one after another but they don't till on the later part of the film, just prolonging the film. If it's their time to die in the film due to its story, they should. Not worth a watch. Awful. Most of the movie is just boring. Even the characters appear to be bored. There is little to no emotion or depth to these characters. It's hard to make a zombie movie that puts the audience to sleep, but this one could. Just as you're about to drift off a zombie shows up and it's almost interesting for a moment.. almost...it's mostly just gruesome.
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Sorry, great visuals but I found it kind of drawn out and not that interesting.
Undeniably a classic, although the bloated runtime does make it hard work. The fact that every single person speaks perfect English hasn't aged too well either and I'm loathe to say it but at times with every scene dragged out to interminable length, it starts to feel self indulgent and just a bit boring.
I'd rather fight in the endless expanse of Arabia, than suffer though the non-event of this film. They have some good memories of this film true. But this film was clearly made for 1960s teens to turn up and hide their celebration of the summer of love from the rents. This could have been great. This could have been accurate. This could have been as good as the acting. It's not. It's a film for people who sat looking at an orcestra for 3 hours without an intermission. We just dont do that anymore. Enjoying life used to be taking your time, now its cramming in everything you possibly can because there's so much to see. It's rome in 3 days, not a datcha by the sea for 3 days. Sadly this once well regarded film, is simply colateral in the march of progress, acting is wooden by modern standards, which compared to previous stage level melodrama was highly realistic, but now rings hollow. You'll watch it once, and then, you'll remember it occasionally as you see P. O'Toole in other roles, it has no value beyond first impression, and if you want to know how endless and empty the Sahara is in film form, well, here you go.
The Edge (1997)
The Bear was the cherry on top
Director Lee Tamahori makes a wilderness survival thriller starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin Hopkins is Charles Morse, he's fabulously wealthy exploring the Alaskan wilderness One of the passengers is Baldwin as photographer Robert Green During the trip the plane unexpectedly crashes and the two men have to rely on one another to make it back to civilization But their trust starts to wane; it's not only the elements they have to combat next to a Kodiak bear but the notion that Charles believes that Robert was having an affair with his beautiful wife Charles at any point could abandon him or kill him leaving only himself as the sole survivor, he's the more paranoid of the bunch yet he's the most intellectual being a rich literate Robert assures him he's a professional but can't make sense of the situation One can only teeter on the edge of sanity for so long when it comes to survival The Alaskan backdrop is gorgeous yet you also feel the immense danger surrounding Both actors work immensely well together and the score by Jerry Goldsmith is beautiful There's some hokiness and it doesn't bite as much as it should but it uses a lot of Mamet to it's advantage being quite cerebral. A bit interesting from a psychological point of view, perhaps, but quite dull and pathetic as a drama.
The Departed (2006)
This movie draws you in for a wild ride
What I love about Sullivan's death scene is it's simplicity in almost no dialogue. There's no long winded speech from Dignam about how he knew he was the informant or Sullivan over dramatically pleading with Dignam not to kill him or blow the whistle on him. Just the simple "Okay(😒)" from Sullivan said it all - he knew everything would eventually catch up to him and he just had to accept his punishment.
The ending with the little rodent running across the balcony was too rich and sweet to leave on the cutting room floor. It was even iconic! Glad they went with that ending.
This movie wouldn't be nearly as good if the characters didn't have flip phones to dramatically shut at the end of each conversation.
Se7en (1995)
I love how "Se7en" remains so iconic even nowadays
No doubt one of the greatest movies ever made, man I love this movie, the picture, acting, the setting, Seven keeps your interest from frame one. You always wanna know what happens, and you just simply cannot take your eyes away from the screen. It's a movie that has you skin crawling, but 100% of your total focus. A wonderfully, beautifully crafted masterpiece that has your eyes open at all time, while also having you flinch at the same time. Amazing atmosphere, story and cast. An intense and satisfying watch from start to finish with an ending to stick with you indefinitely. Thriller at its finest a must have in any collection.

Ronin (1998)
Ronin is a very good action movie
With awesome car chase scenes, great direction and a really good cast. The characters are great and the mysterious way the audience gets to know them is really engaging. I loved Vincent and Sam's duo, while the supporting characters were interesting too, with simple, but reasonable motivations. The story has a few very surprising twists, while the character decisions and reaction to them remain reasonable. The directing is awesome, because this movie is technically complete. The action sequences are more than ok. The car chases are awesome, they are also well-shot and the editing was great too. With an amazing cast like this it is obvious that the acting isn't going to be bad. Ronin isn't among the best movies of all time, but it is an awesome, super fun watch because of its great action sequences and huge cast.
The Shadow Strays (2024)
I'm a huge fan of these type of high offense martial arts films
The Shadow Strays is a high-octane hyper-violent action entertainment that delivers nearly two and a half hours of bone-crushing, immense action set-pieces, and a total carnage full with flying limbs and bloods. It's a complete blend of sword fights, gun fights, hand-to-hand combat boasts with incredible stunt work and stylish camera works. A satisfying revenge plot that understand the characters' struggle and strength, alongside the intriguing storytelling about corruption and underground world of assassins filled with codenames and such which didn't fail to impress. It is effective in every aspects, packs in everything I love about these type of films: the opening sequence and the final confrontation/fight between 13 and Umbra that holds no prisoners - relentless and gnarly. Aurora Ribero is something to be reckon with, she kicks so much ass like the world is about to end. This latest Tjahjanto film brought action to a next level and I'm so happy that he's getting more inventive and wild to introduce something breathless to every of his new films.

Thelma & Louise (1991)
One of my favorite films it has a great story
Two women, starting a girls' weekend away, get themselves in some bother, which escalates. Classic movie. Impressive videography.. My all-time favorite of Ridley Scott's movies, and that's saying something. A nearly perfect film. The performances by Davis and Sarandon are impeccable and heartfelt. Brad Pitt was so young. Was this his first movie? Plus a fantastic soundtrack. You really can't go wrong here. I still refuse to use the word "awesome". But this is a great film. For some bizarre reason I had never got round to watching this film. It's a belter. A girls road trip that beats the typical men's 'buddy' movies hands down. Great watch. Very quotable.

Caddo Lake (2024)
This movie is hard to follow in my opinion. I found it to be a real snoozer. It never really felt like it was going anywhere
It's a waste of time. Don't watch, you'll regret it if you do. The movie goes everywhere but the moon. The producer must have been on drugs and it seems like the movies plot is made up as the movie is filmed. After 30 minutes in I was hoping the ending was close. It wasn't, this disaster continued and me being me felt compelled to see where the movie would lead me. Some time travel portal that randomly appears is what this movie is about really about. That's it, it was junk. This movie made no sense at all like spoilers "at the end they changed times and the so called missing dad turns to be the girl and her mother dad I know it is so no make sense that u can't even explain it.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
It feels very very rushed
This is likely the worse Marvel movie ever made. All it is, from the beginning is a blood-fest that has no noticeable plot or characters that are more than skinned deep. The jokes are rarely funny and depend on fan knowledge. It is like watching a fan made trailer. It is like the Deadpool character ran out of ideas and is trying to repeat the SOS. It is a waste of time that only held my attention until about half way through, I realized that there would not be a plot or any thing that was interesting, unless you want to admire the special effects replicating gross violence on top of gross violence. Because of the involvement of the TVA it is easy to compare it to Loki and realize that they could have done so much more considering they seem to have had a large budget. I was honestly looking forward to it, having liked the first two Deadpools, but this one is a complete and utter failure.

Alien: Romulus (2024)
This film was freaking amazing! Saw it
One of the strongest and best horror franchises ever returns with 'Alien: Romulus'. SYNOPSIS: 'While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. I'm such a huge fan of the 'Alien' franchise I approached this film with great excitement, but also some trepidation. Immediately this film ties itself firmly to the first two films and sets out a clear interest in the Xenomorph by the Wetland-Yutani corporation. I do have questions about some of what's revealed here, and later on, but potentially a rewatch may will clear this up for me. The film looks to expand on this universe both figuratively and literally and I'm absolutely up for this. More please. Showing the darker side of this universe and the downtrodden people within it feels very similar to what 'Rogue One' and 'Andor' did for the 'Star Wars universe. However, this must be the most complicated film within this franchise. If you're coming into this blind you'll have no idea what's going on. On the flipside though it's absolutely full of Easter eggs. Overall it's an impressive technical spectacle that highlights Fede Álvarez's talent in creating an atmosphere of tension and horror through practical affects. It looks incredible throughout with the facehuggers and Xenomorphs looking as good as you'll have ever seen before. Is it the best 'Alien' film? No. But it's certainly not the worst. It sits somewhere firmly in the middle of the franchise. What this film does incredibly well though is to expand the universe further and to build intrigue for what's to come. There's no reason that, moving forward, the 'Alien' franchise can't be as big as the 'Star Wars' franchise if it continues on this trajectory. This IP is very much back.

Madame Web (2024)
This movie is just uninspired & boring
I genuinely believe the two writers are the 'face' of sonys attempt to develop an AI script writing app. I think they, Sony, know ppl will reject any script made by a bot so they have to have faces for what the bot spits out, and it's these two writers. The script genuinely seems like how a nascent bot would write a script. Like Madame web being recognized two states away by someone reading a newspaper about something that happened a few hours earlier in a different state. We know newspapers can't work that way, but a learning bot probably doesn't, it just knows newspapers are used to sometimes recognize ppl in movies.
Never Let Go (2024)
More like, let go of any memory
It was terrible. Like bad. Real bad. Not cohesive. When did the kid start sleepwalking? WTH was this even about. Don't waste your time. At least the popcorn was good. This one was confusing. It did get better as it went on. The first 40 minutes were pretty boring, it then got upsetting, settled in to being a bit of a creepy thriller, and then just blew up everything at the end by making sure you really had not clue what was going on. Overall not that great. The movie was very suspenseful and keeps your attention. The negative is that it's not written very tightly, hence it creates a few plot holes and ends pretty weak. I think it's above average cinema created nowadays but missed the mark for greatness.
MaXXXine (2024)
Not the clever end to the trilogy I was expecting
This movie was a disappointment.
Maxine didn't feel like the character from X and was wasted in this movie.
The whole movie felt rushed and pointless.
The gore wasn't anything special, Kevin Bacon was great, Mia Gott had nothing interesting to do however.
Easily the weakest of the three and I would say that it can be skipped.
I was equally disappointed. Overall rating was like a 5.5 out of 10. X Was worlds better. Even Pearl was worlds better. Both were original and "out there". Maxxxine just seemed forced and West seemed confused.
Only the costumes and the photography are really good but the all film and characters lack of personality, MaXXXine herself is not narrated well, I Wish I could see all of the reference of the other movies of the series inside the character of MaXXXine and not just in beautiful frames of the film, If you get me.
Hold Your Breath (2024)
It's one of those movies that makes you think "I bet it is great as a book, and that'll be a book I will never read."
I feel bad for the other actor's and crew, who try to put in their best effort and still believe they will get further in the industry by including such a lazy, money grabbing and egotistical 'famous' face on the cover of the film they are in. This was the biggest waste of my time. Horror where ? That's an hour and a half I will NEVER get back. Why even allow Hulu to stream this. Again this movie wasted my time more than any person ever has. Sarah Paulson should cut me a check for putting this garbage out and enticing anyone to watch it! Sarah Paulson CAN NOT carry the leading role in a film. This is a poor convoluted mess of a story. Unfortunately Paulson as the lead fails to elevate this from anything other than an absolute snooze fest. Abysmal film.
