I wont say this is the worst film I've ever seen and I understand it is just a movie and you have to stretch your imagination but for a post apocalyptic world it was pretty clean. The young actors gave it a good run but you have to give credit to the fact that Tim Curry makes this movie worth watching. He is so wonderfully over the top in most things but he was a little more subtly over the top in this one. No offense to Dean O'Gorman but what the heck was the narration all about. I guess in stead of showing emotion he was being stoic and explaining it? If I was an eight year old I probably would have thought it was a good movie. It has all the right elements for a great kids movie but it just didn't quite make it
OK I have loved Toni Collete since Muriel's Wedding and have long thought she was an excellent actress that could make you believe that she was actually the person she was playing. She has done a lot of disversified work but I can only say she is brilliant in this show or at least the pilot. She did an excellent job at portraying poor Tara and I for one can not wait for more. Who doesn't like easy going John Corbett? His character is no big stretch yet but he has plenty of room to work on in his reaction to his wife's situation. The two young actors as the children did a presentable job. The only character I had a problem with was the sister. If Tara has suffered since a child why is the sister so dismissive. I can understand anger but whey would she not believe her sister? Again good job Showtime for yet again bringing a show that makes you wait with anticipation for the next episode
I won't say this is the best horror film I have ever watched but it is certainly not the worst either. Interesting story line about the plague doctors (who by the way wore masks shaped like bird beaks to keep plague at bay) and an unknown cult. In this day of conspiracies it is reasonable to think it could have happened. It had some really decent gore in it and is an OK way to spend a couple of hours. I must say Gina Phillips is making a career out of making horror films and most of them have been good enough to watch. Like this one. You have to keep an open mind with most horror films now days and this is definitely worth a quick look when you've got nothing else to watch. I bought in the 2 for $10 bin @ the local big name super store so at least I got my money's worth. And the ending was very interesting
