I can't decide if that makes it better or worse but for me at least it makes it entertaining instead of sad. And this isn't simply a monument to excess, it's built to be basically a modern day palace where the entire multi-generational family will live for centuries. Sadly it's extremely difficult to find craftsmen to build something like that these days, especially enough of them to complete this home properly in their lifetime. Which is probably the real lesson to be learned here.
If Jackie thinks her over the top clueless antics are funny to most people she really needs to read some reviews here, a lot more people would like her real personality more. When her daughter died she spoke very eloquently, set up charities and put in real work in her daughter's name.

Basically a bunch of short films that take place in the same universe at the same time; the stories are tied together by a person or piece of technology being in two or more plot lines. The plot lines are basically mini-episodes of Black Mirror asking "wouldn't life be creepy if technology did this?" sort of thing. Supposedly the theme of these stories is supposed to evoke thoughts about the meaning of life... I didn't get that at all. To me I just thought it was an entertaining way to spend 80 minutes. Would I watch it again? Yes, actually, but with other people, not alone. These sorts of movies/shows are fun to talk about with people because the concepts depicted are fairly thought provoking even if (in this case) the movie is nothing special. It's not good but it is thoroughly entertaining so worth a watch at least once.
Rewatched this because I heard they were filming a sequel and I remember really enjoying it as a teenager when I saw it in theaters. It's still amazing. The movie instantly grabs you with the visual of the passengers waking up from cryogenic sleep so you're experiencing the world for the first time right along with them. The narration tells you everything you need to know and you get a sense that you've been transported to Pandora just like everyone else. The movie itself is beautiful with some of the best special effects I've ever seen, even a decade later. The actors are perfect in their roles, the story is timeless, and the ending gave me chills. I can't wait for Avatar 2, I love this movie so much.
