Movies are great! That's it!
This film is going to have maximum rating from me because of the love for the form that can be seen in it.
This is a film made by someone who loves movies. It's incredibly consistent visually. It doesn't let itself fall in the trap of stellar technique in detriment of emotion and genuine care for the characters. At times the film felt like it was shot on film but it didn't seem to wrestle with that.
I liked very much the use of black of white and how creative it is with the editing - it tries a little bit of everything but it doesn't feel like it's showing off. It serves the story and the characters.

Like watching shackles being broken
There was never a film like this. I think it's a landmark. It's funny, easy and it was made with a lot of heart.
I'm a straight man that last week watched films by Sergei Eisenstein, Victor Sjöström, G. W. Pabst, Brian de Palma... and I loved this film.
It made me happy, it made me laugh, it made me know better how it's like to be a LGBTQ+ person living in the world today, and how it has been in the past.
It's the first gay rom-com financed by a studio. So it is a landmark. This film can be played pretty much in every household of the world - those that don't have kids who are younger than 16 of course, because there's tons of sex in the film.
It really felt like watching shackles being broken to watch this film. It's terrific entertainment!
