The show is not transparent about this being scripted with actors. The first times that I watched it something felt off with the way the litigants interact with each other and the dramatic tabloid style "cases" presented, It would be more tolerable if the actors were any good. The production feels amateurish with a cheap looking set and an echo when anyone talks.
This is a huge step down from The People's Court which had real cases with real litigants and was a good teaching tool for basic law. The fact that nothing is mentioned about this being a scripted show is a slap in the face for any of Jude Milian's fans. I expected better from her. There are other far better court programs offered with real litigants and real cases. I will no longer watch.

I wanted to like this so much but it's a very bizarre movie that doesn't know what it wants to be.
I couldn't get passed the first 30 minutes.
Performances are ok but absolutely questionable as to how they became Oscar worthy.
The photography is strangely dark and distracting.
I watch a lot of foreign subtitled movies but found this distracting constantly going between English being spoken and English subtitles.
Ke Huy Quan comes across as seriously miscast in what became an annoying performance for me.
It was a mess for me. It seems unsure what it wants to be.
Maybe I'll give it another try but not any time soon.

This is a master class in acting.
The powerful script creates such raw honest emotions. I was pulled into the story with the 4 amazing actors bringing it to life.
By the end, I was filled with so much emotion brought on by the incredible script.
The story takes us down a path that pulled me right into it.
All 4 actors stun us with their performances. They bring to life a simple set which is difficult to do. The script and actors are all we need for this fascinating and unfortunately headline driven story.
Ann Dowd will amaze you. We need to see her in many more projects. Reed Birney is a talent and his stage skills come through in his ability to bring his character to life with such real emotion. Martha Plimpton has never disappointed and this is just another example.
Jason Isaacs fits right in with the talent and holds his own.
This is an important film that brings about discussions after its over.
