In 1969, at the El Royale, a tourist resort that has fallen into disrepair, just like its occupants. Located near Lake Tahoe, a man buries a travel bag under the floorboards of his room. He's a Catholic priest called Daniel Flynn (Jeff Bridges), later on , at the resort shows up a singer Darlene Sweet (Cynthia Erivo), salesman Laramie Seymour Sullivan (Jon Hamm) and sarcastic Emily Summerspring (Dakota Johnson) where they meet the hotel's only employee, Miles Miller (Lewis Pullman). The receptionist receives strange visitors, and soon after a long body count follows. Some of the new guests' reasons for being there are less than innocent and some are not who they appear to be. Seven strangers each with their own secrets !. Seven secrets !. All roads lead here !.7 strangers. 7 secrets. 1 night.
This thriller with hints of black comedy is Drew Goddard's second film as a director after the successful modern horror film ¨The Cabin in the Woods¨. Drew Goddard is also the author of the script (Goddard is an expert screenwriter, in fact he was nominated for an Oscar for best script for The Martian), here he deals with a confusing plot in which several suspect characters meet at a tourist resort when numerous strange situations take place, resulting in dire consequences. An original and attractive plot in which a lot of roles each with their own personal agenda move from inside to outside the hotel, causing wreak havoc, apart from a breathtaking final with total chaos, mayhem and extreme confusion.
There is a brief study of some unknown roles whose particular characteristics we see gradually discovering, these include the priest Daniel Flynn, the soul singer Darlene Sweet, the street vendor Laramie Seymour Sullivan, the hippie Emily Summerspring, her little sister Rose, the manager Miles Miller and the enigmatic Billy Lee, all of them coincide in El Royale where there are surprising events, twists, turns and sudden outbursts of violence especially in the explosive finale.
These eccentric roles are well brought to life by a fine cast, such as veteran Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo who , of course, sings some songs, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman and Chris Hemsworth who had to lose more than 10 kilos of muscle for his character, after filming: ¨Avengers: Infinity War¨
The film highlights the brilliant photography trying to emulate the colorful atmosphere of the sixties by cameraman Seamus McGarvey. As well as the evocative and intriguing musical score by Michael Giacchino, adding many typical songs of the Nixon's time. This clever motion picture was competently written/produced/directed by . Previously , Drew worked as a production assistant in L. A. after graduation. A spec script Drew wrote based on Six Feet Under (2001) came to the attention of both Marti Noxon at Buffy, slayer (1997) and David Greenwalt at Ángel (1999). Both wanted him but because Marti found him first, Joss Whedon determined Drew would go to "Buffy". He became a staff writer for Season 7 (2002-2003), writing five episodes . Once "Buffy" was over , Drew moved over to "Angel" and became the executive story editor for Season 5 (2003-2004), writing four episodes. Drew Goddard's directorial debut was ¨The cabin in the Woods¨ , here he returns to the tradition al Hollywood gang of monsters and he performs around imaginatively with the genre while giving several cool touches. Drew also found time to contribute two stories to the "Tales of the Vampires" comic series and after producing notorious TV series as ¨The Good Place¨ , ¨Daredevil¨, ¨The Defenders¨, ¨Lost¨and films as ¨Cloverfield 10¨, ¨The Martian¨, The Cloverfield Paradox¨, and ¨Bad Times at the Royale¨ . Rating : 7/10. Better than average.

The movie is set in fictional O'Hare California, there little Pepper Busbee (Jakob Salvati) enjoys an idyllic life in an American small town, as he lives happily along his beloved mother (Emily Watson), amiable father and the older brother (David Henrie). But his world is shattered when his intimate parent (Michael Rapaport) is summoned to fight the Japanese during WWII and he is sent off to battle in the Pacific front. But a chance encounter with a stage magician (Ben Chaplin) awakens his dormant abilities and clues him into the power of faith. Later on, the desolate and lonely Pepper befriends an isolated Japanese man, Hashimoto (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), and embarks on a challenging mission to bring his father back. Now his devotion to his father will extend past time and space and into the realm of miracles..Believe the impossible !.
An enjoyable film with a moving, stirring plot dealing with an eight-year-old boy is willing to do whatever it takes to end World War II so he can bring his father home. It's an agreeable and good feeling movie containing emotion, sensibility, thrills, and revealing the indescribable love a father has for his little boy and the love a son has for his father. There are brilliant and magical frames as when Little Boy imagines himself walking among the ruins created by the atomic bomb "Little Boy," the scenes were filmed in black and white, with his clothes and the atomic bomb staying red in color. Along with the child protagonist, Jakob Salvati, who gives a good performance despite his young age, there are a long list of prestigious actors who add vigor and appeal to this rather good film, such as: Emily Watson, Michael Rapaport, David Henrie, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Tom Wilkinson, Ben Chaplin, Ted Levine, Kevin James, director's wife: Ali Landry and Eduardo Verástegui who was the producer too.
It contains a sensitive, rousing musical score by composers Stephan Altman and Mark Foster, adding some songs, such as: Happy Days Are Here Again, Back to Blighty, I Like a Uniformed Soldier, When you find love, Ben Eagle Moves The Bottle, Opening Malabang !, Little Boy Moves The Bottle, The list , The fight, This Little Light Of Mine, Bomb dream, After the earthquake, among others . As well as colorful, evocative cinematography by cameraman Andrew Cadelago, shot on location in Rosarito Beach, Los Cabos, Fox Baja Studios, Rosarito, and Tijuana, Baja California Norte, Mexico. The motion picture was well written/produced/directed by Alejandro Monteverde. Monteverde is a good filmmaker who has directed a few films characterized by dealing with human feelings, religiosity, spirituality and high social values. His big hits were ¨Bella¨ and ¨Sound of Freedom¨ (2023), the latter was actually finished in 2018 but took years to release; the filmmakers were turned down by various distributing companies as they didn't want the film associated with their output. Monteverdi who usually collaborates with actor/producer Eduardo Verástegui has made notable films such as Cabrini (2024), Little Boy (2015), Bella (2006) and Sound of Freedom (2023). Rating: 7/10. Better than average. Well worth watching. The film will appeal to fans of intimate and magical dramas.

Soyuz spacecraft, today. When NASA astronauts Kira Foster (Ariana DeBose) and Christian Campbell (John Gallagher Jr.) arrive at the ISS, they are greeted with camaraderie and excitement by their compatriot Gordon Barrett (Chris Messina) and by Russian cosmonauts Veronica Vetrob (Masha Mashkova) and the Pulov brothers, (Costa Ronin, Pilou Asbæk) with whom they will work side by side. From space, they contemplate a majestic and wonderful Earth free of borders, until explosions begin to occur everywhere. Then the crew members of the space capsule receive respective orders from their governments. The war on Earth will be decided in space !.
Science fiction thriller that takes place entirely on the International Space Station (ISS), a symbol of cooperation between the United States and Russia. The main issue deals with a conflict breaks out on Earth, reeling, the U. S. and Russian astronauts receive orders from the ground: take control of the station by any means necessary. From now on, after receiving expeditious orders from their respective governments, a multitude of incidents unfold that will be marked by impulses such as fear, love, courage, patriotism or the sense of right and wrong. I. S. S. Isn't a political movie but it shows how "the brunt" of geopolitical conflicts "falls on the little people. Starring Ariana DeBose giving a good acting, she auditioned prior to winning an Oscar for West Side Story. Cowperthwaite was impressed by the understated and nuanced approach DeBose took to the role. DeBose's background as a dancer helped with portraying the character in zero gravity.
In the original script, Dr. Kira Foster/DeBose was researching microbes instead of mice. Scott Kelly's memoir Endurance: A Year in Space, a Lifetime of Discovery was used as research for the film and inspired how the mice react to zero gravity.
The creation of the International Space Station symbolized the collaboration between the United States and Russia after the Cold War. The ISS is primarily used as a research center where the crew makes advances in medicine, technology and space exploration. Today, both American astronauts and Russian cosmonauts live on board the ISS.
Late 2020, Nick Shafir's screenplay I. S. S. Was included on that year's "Black List" of most-liked unproduced screenplays. In 2021, it was announced that the film had been greenlit for production by LD Entertainment with Gabriela Cowperthwaite directing. The motion picture was professionally ditected by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, though it has some failures. She said of the film, "I come from these earnest documentaries and dramas and stuff like that, but I love a fun ride. I'm a popcorn-chomping moviegoer...And so being able to be entrusted, with that world, that genre, whilst maybe bringing some of that humanity that I feel is more my tool set into it felt like a very fun challenge." I. S. S. Made boxoffice enough, when released in North America, the film made $1.2 million from 2,520 theaters on its first day and went on to gross $3 million from its opening weekend, finishing seventh at the box office Cowperthwaite has directed a few movies, such as: The Grab (2022), Children of the Underground (2022), Our Friend (2019), Megan Leavey (2017), City Lax: An Urban Lacrosse Story (2010), and her big hit was the notorious documentary Blackfish (2013). I. S. S. Rating: 6/10. Acceptable and passable film with plenty of decent special effects.
