Sure Looks Good (2010)
4 different women.... 4 unique stories
Can you count on your friends through thick and thin? Better yet, who do you run to when you feel like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? I had the chance to review Sure Looks Good from Maverick Entertainment Group and it showed me that there's no problem too big for your friends to help you solve.
While much of the storyline felt somewhat familiar, there is something special about this film. It takes us through the lives of four different women as they try to deal with motherhood, personal struggles, relationships, and more. This is a movie that exemplifies the true meaning of friendship. April, Pam, Sharon, and Simone each have their own vice they are trying to overcome. Whether it's a sexual addiction, cheating, bad parenting, or lack of spousal support, their loyalty to one another cannot be questioned.
Sure Looks Good is a romantic drama that exploits good friends as they identify those obstacles and overcome them together. What struck me the most was how the film combined a little bit of everything from drama, comedy, and romance. It offered a lot more than I expected. You not only care about the characters in this film, you actually see them grow up on screen.
Though the cast was all African American actors, this is movie for all ethnic backgrounds. Anyone can relate to the issues these women are facing.
Gun Shy (2000)
Great Film By Eric Blakeney
Eric Blakeney is a very talented writer/director. I love his movie Gun Shy, and its all star cast. The director really has a knack for comedy. I recently received another film directed by Eric Blakeney,Date For Hire, Blakeney's new laugh out loud DVD, hitting shelves later this summer. If you liked Gun Shy you'll be sure to love this film. Synopsis: To show his friends that he isn't the loser they have made him to be, Marcus bets them that he can get a date with the next girl that walks into the bar. But things don't go quite as planned when the girl puts a price tag on their night out. Now a simple bet has turned into an all night adventure, where money, stalkers, and craziness collide.

This movie is absolutely hilarious. I loved every minute of the quirky comedy. You definitely need to check it out, here's a quick synopsis to get ya in the mood.
Betty has moved across the pond to become a real life American reporter, but when her first story assignment turns out to be just another fluff piece she begins to think twice about the move. Discouraged and looking for allies Betty forms an unlikely bond with the neighborhood thieves and together they set out to investigate the town's crooked Mayor. Betty might just get her first real news story, but she'll have to be in cahoots with thieves to get it.

Wounded Hearts (2002)
Good movie great box art
I really enjoyed this film. It may not have been as technically savvy as most of the films out there. But I am an independent movie fan. The story was timely and very sincere. I think the title must be doing well. I saw a lot of copies at Wal-Mart. The artwork on the title is what got me and I was moved by the story. It is tough out there for single parents and you are often put into a situation that you may not know what to do. JD Hawkins has the right idea. He just needs more money to fund his films and he will be a great director one day. Everyone has to start out somewhere. And I think he did a horror film next, I cant wait to see that one. The independent stuff is where it is at. You need to a good idea, a good story and a lot of heart to put your self out there.
