I think the 1s are a little bit over dramatic. Let's get that out of the way first.
You know what your getting with this. A time killer. You're not going to get an Oscar award winner here.
However. I felt the special effects were decent.the acting was "ok". The story was fairly well thought out. I don't exactly know what everyone's problem was with it. So what if the creatures face doesn't move. Enjoy it for what the movie is. A 90 minute time waster to hold you over . Not exactly a bad deal. Give it an actual chance and who knows you might have a good although forgettable time with it.

Netflix "originals" have always been hit or miss. Their horror track record seems to be decent (minus the hemlock grove series)
Anyways. I wasnt immediately sold on the idea of this show. The cover art made it seem cheesey (full moon cheesy) and the video preview wasnt exactly enticing.
I decided to give it a shot when I literally couldnt find anything else to watch.
First episode almost made me quit. Not gonna lie. It wasnt bad but it just dragged on. When it got into the 2nd episode and beyond it got pretty good.
It's not "scary " per se but a good suspense thriller at best with supernatural elements.
At the end of day its better than average but nothing that differentiates itsself from anything out of the genre.
6/10

First I want to say that I love "B" movies. I used to work in a video store (remember those?) and had a wide access of movies from Redneck Zombies to Toxic Avenger to Arcade, Subspecies and ofcourse the movie I am going to talk about now, Puppetmaster.
I see alot of negative reviews and a lot of positive ones. Sometimes I need to wonder the age groups of the reviews. Not to say that is a bad thing but I think some of you are a little more hostile than is needed.
In ways of plot its simple. For this kind of movie it doesn't have to be Summer of 84 or even Halloween. Plot is this. Good vs Evil. Thats it. For this kind of movie it works. The viewer just has to watch and be entertained. I know some of you want the holy grail and want to overthink what you watch but when you overthink it could actually take out the enjoyment of the movie. For all you WWE fans, do you overthink why one of the characters are doing something a certain way? No. You just want to see how it plays out. Same situation here. Just enjoy it, So that being said I am not going to go into what little plot there is. because it is thin but just enough for you to know whats going on.
The gore factor was pretty cool. Its funny how gore can improve when there is a budget (this runs alongside the Full Moon movies but is not a full moon movie. I am not going to try to explain it because I don't know much about the whole situation. I guess long story short they're going to co-exist as alternate realities....I think that might confuse fans in long run but too early to tell)
All the puppets look really good, although I wasn't really a fan of Blades design. It may grow on me but its a give it or take it. They considered this movie a reboot, BUT for me its missing one key puppet. Leech Woman. she was one of the better puppets in the original series so its just kind of odd with her not being in the reboot.
For you nudity fans (and yes I know some of you go really 80s style and expect nudity in your horror since every horror flick in the 80s had it) there is some, not a lot but its there. Me personally could care less because it has nothing to do with the movie but for those that do care its there
So over all this movie hits ALL the right nostalgia notes. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. I also think this will only appeal to fans who grew up with this. I am not so sure that it will attract new fans. This definitely was for the fans who've stuck with this over the last 30 years.
As far as ending goes.....Again no spoilers. I'm torn on it. Part of me liked the direction it went into the other part of me was like WHYYYY.
So check it out. don't expect a lot. and just enjoy the ride. Don't expect The Godfather or Casablanca with this. just expect a good time.
