Maken-Ki! Battling Venus (2011)
A mildly good 1st Season followed by a "Second" one no one asked for.
The first Season, while itself isn't very good is miles better than the so called "Season 2". It's got your typical harem bs tropes, characters with no personality to speak of, and a MC who's uninteresting.
If your looking for characters that will get any kind of character development: this isn't the Anime I would recommend, but if you're looking for fan service Anime, it also wouldn't be worth it as there's just better options.
The female characters outside their boob size, have one character trait that defines them throughout the 2 Season run and the MC is just your typical pervert.
Season 2 on the other hand: is straight awful because it doesn't follow up with Season 1's ending and instead does the "Anime Original" creating a massive disconnect from the Manga.
If this review was based on Season 1 only I would've been more generous but it has to be attached to the unwanted Season 2. What a damn shame.
The Misty Green Sky (2016)
I've seen college animation better than whatever this was supposed to be.
I just watched the movie and have no idea what it's supposed to be. Everything is incredibly and sort of hilariously awful that you have to see it to believe it. The main female character is strange and makes these weird faces, her clothing is very inconsiderate. The rest of the characters don't matter besides the Main female character and this guy who calls himself God. Characters talk in a way that don't sound like people but actors reading from a script, the sound effects are meh, the sound design is absolutely dreadful and given that this was a "Trilogy", this is just the setup but given how it's reviewed, I don't think it's getting a sequel unfortunately because I wanna see how bad they can continue and a very small part of me wants to see if by a massive miracle: can they learn and improve.
Oh well.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018)
As a huge fan, it's disappointing.
Coming off from the 2012 TMNT, I was hyped when I heard a new TMNT was on the horizon. The animation looks great, the intro is pretty good and the potential to be another great addition to the TMNT line was there: or at least it should've been. This is what happens when you combine TTG and TMNT, fuse them together while removing all the good stuff about TMNT: the character, story, comedy, etc. You end up with a Series that's a shell (pun intended) of itself. Gone are the good characters, decent writing, jokes that aren't forced. Master Splinter: WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU!? He was the Sensei who was amazing with knowledge but here? He's a damn joke. It hurts to see that. The turtles: They might as well be Mikey, because there's not a single one of them that can be taken seriously. April O'Neal: No. She's not the smart one, or the cool one from the 2003, or the attractive one from the 1987 one. She's just as bland as the rest.
I didn't watch much of it so this is a first impressions based on a handful before I had to quit. I just couldn't take the unfunny humor and severe lack of a story direction. 10 minute segments yet nothing seems to click. That's not a good idea. Not even on paper.
