Silo (2023)
Mary-Sue !
The show started with a seemingly interesting mystery. Unfortunately, the emergence of Mary Sue in episode three ensured that was the last episode I would watch.
The entire scenario that this young lady somehow acquired the skills to be the only person capable of fixing an engine running an entire society, is just utterly absurd.
Then they get into the detail surrounding the malfunctioning engine and it is moronically bad.
You know, Star Trek, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, they all employed some scientifically educated people such that their Science-Fiction details, were often plausible in a theoretical sense; at least not insulting to our intellect.
...I can hear harmonic imbalances ! Man, if a piece of rotating machinery was that badly damaged, you definitely don't need to struggle to hear it. Could seriously go on about this.
And mister Forearms ! I mean Foreman. How many shots are there of this guy flexing his arms, supervising. What he supervises, I don't know, as he frequently gets put in his place by the seemingly much more experienced Mary-Sue.
Let's talk about Mary-Sue's great leadership traits, strike and yell at your coworkers and always disrespect your boss and other peers. -Sounds like a level-headed and well-adjusted person, perfect for the public service of a sheriff.
The Night Agent (2023)
Misandrist Garbage
Terrible casting. Clearly, their DEI quota has been surpassed.
It's much more subtle than most shows, but it is absolutely misandrist garbage throughout. If you're a man, you have to hate being one to enjoy this kind of abuse. Ever man in this show is talked down to and put in his place by their, smarter, women bosses or charge.
Generic, reused, plot, and completely idiotic dialogue that is so irrelevant and simple, mostly just adding to the insufferableness of the characters.
I wish writers like this would read some Robert Ludlum, Frederick Forsyth, or classic Clancy. Lots of filler in here and not much point.
Lost in Space (2018)
Terrible Science-fiction
Clearly not written by people who have the slightest clue regarding physics.
Emasculated men, being constantly demeaned by their superior intelligent counterparts, as well by the kids. I guess half the kids take stupid pills when they reach adulthood?
Just another disappointing example in modern story writing, who is this written for, the intended audience? Clearly not geeks that love Science, Math, Physics, Space, NASA, etcetera.
What really sucks is good Science-fiction is so far between garbage like this does more to hurt the perceived popularity of the genera then promote it.
Onyx Equinox (2020)
completely reproachable protagonist
The point of main character aside, he is the failing of this show. Irritating to endure and creepy to listen to, more so after realizing the boy character is being voiced by a woman, his voice just sounds off and the unrelenting whining.
He's also a bit of a Marty Stu when necessity requires him to be smart or have skills. From weaver to leader, swordsman, tactician, and back to whining...
Snowpiercer (2020)
Casting is so distracting
Present day social messaging is more important then telling a competent science-fiction story. There's a focus on diversity for couples and the portrayal of evil to righteous characters that by midway season 2 I had enough. The source material, the graphic novel, Le Transperceneige will be timeless as opposed to this 2020 Netflix garbage.
