Recent years we all are victims and witnesses of progressive march towards death. Literally and metaphorically. We see that many great directors now are making BS movies, films without souls. Many films today are cold, calculated and completely soulless, dehumanized, lost in the democratic ideology that gave birth to directors like Scott, Spielberg and this Amoldovar. When times were better and they were younger, they made interesting, humorous and humanly warm films - films with a soul. And when you usher into political ideology which has no love, no soul and all is a lie, then all you are left with is fear and emptiness. An emptiness that is filled with opiates, addictions (gambling, sex, etc.) and meaningless works. One of those is this film, which actually talks about exactly that - the emptiness from which all fears arise. Like the fear of death. But, Aldomovar again presented this from a democratic point of view that promotes euthanasia, assisted suicide, or the taking of life. And again, all because life without sound mind and love leads to deviation and suffering. To begin with, you need to love yourself. Everything starts from that, all life, because life is always progressive, it never stops and never dies. Once you understand this, you'll find these kinds of movies funny for how pathetic they are in their fear and self-mourning.
This is how the world really is. People are stupid and it's easy to fool them. The real nature of evil is depicted very well here, it is almost grotesque but really dark in it's core. "Evil" has great actors (all of them are marvelous!) and intriguing screenplay. What not consistent with actors and story is directing, because this show deserves much better direction and production. And more seasons. I am actually surprised that this series lasted so long, becuase it is blatantly open and shows reality how truely is, unmasked. People in power are pure evil who are ruining our lives but we are continuously refusing to see what or who is behind curtains of our lives. Why we are here, why we are suffering and working like slaves for them (through centuries), why we are keep going into massive bloodsheds and why we are keeping doing same mistakes again and again. And why we still allow evil to rule us when we are much stronger than we were told we are? One answer is fear, but the other one you probably won't like... but, in the end the truth will set you free.
