They recycle all the filiar tropes. Technically nothing we haven't seen but grittier. Can be serious but insert just a tad looney. At the begining I was disappointed to see all the same familiar villains. Yeah sure, they may have changed the characters a bit, some gender or racial differences but I'm the end they remain the same villains. The very first episode was very much by the book. The classic villain doing classic villain stuff. That, however, changed in the following episodes.
It is occasionally too shallow in the stories it tells, but I can clearly see the 25 minute episodes limitations.
This is supposed to be a more noire Batman, more human and it is, to a point. I'm a bit more generous with the score but hope that they clear up the theething problems.
Maybe shift to two parters, so they can flesh out the stories better. There is a lot of potential.

First season was intriguing, second season was actually quite good, and after things shifted in gear for third and onwards, the series just went limp and fell flat on its face. The development for Saru and Burnham was good. They both grew well in to their shoes, everything surrounding it... The dialogue, encounters, side characters, as mediocre and below. Actually quite disappointed as had high hopes for the series.
Through out each season they try to build a mystery, grow towards it resolution, but the path is always shallow, the resolution boring, bordering on nonsensical. Dialogue is often childish, there is a large crew but no attention given to it. The ship taking a back stage... Overall not a great entry.

I won't provide spoilers, it's barely watchable. I'll mention just the intro, recap. What they consider previously worthy. It's a 100% who kissed who. This is THE most interesting thing to recap from a sci-fi Star Trek show. There aren't any Strange New Worlds. There is barely any exploration in this show. There are barely any characters.... Episodes follow a shallow narrative structure, that is made a joke by any decently written show. Problems aren't solved by a crew, but individuals stumbling upon the solution. The only redeeming quality of this, are visuals. A pretty penny is spent on episode visuals, where they would have more benefited of doing better writing work.
They've had two "joke" episodes in a row, and both are pretty bad.
PS: Spock actor has a neat voice... Do as you please with this information...
