Act Your Age (2023)
Classic sitcom vibes
This show has a classic sitcom format we don't see a lot of these days, and an interesting "golden girls" like premise. Yvette and Kym's characters are really believable and a treat, Tisha's leans a little too into tropes but is key to pushing Yvette's character out of her comfort zone. I wish they let her feel a little more real. I am also not so sure about the side stories with their kids, though as moms I understand why they are part of the show. Just maybe next season have a little less of them and a little more of the three main characters (and let Tisha's character feel a little more authentic). An easy watch.
Johnny Z (2022)
Not horrible, not really good either
In a genre that is drowning in poor story lines this one could have been interesting. Not unique, similar things have been done before. But the problem is the acting and pacing. I am also not sure how they chose their leads. It didn't seem like they had a martial arts background, or if they did, they didn't use it to the best of their ability. And bad acting can be fun, if there is something nice to look at, but in this movie most of the extras are more attractive then the leads. So again, not sure how they cast for this. But if you love all things Zombie, it's worth a watch, but if you only like well written and acted zombie movies, or even poorly acted or camp movies with hot leads, you will want to pass.
Wicked City (2022)
Needs more polish
The premise is interesting, the special effects are alright, it's got magic, sex, all the good stuff. What it doesn't have is someone pushing the actors to be better. Some of it is pretty bad. Like all the scenes were shot in one take without pulling the best perfomance possible out of the actors, which leaves things feeling a little cheap. Some of the actors are good, but that makes the poorly acted scenes stand out all the more. Now, to be fair I'm only on episode 4, and I'll keep watching just to see if they find their stride, but it's really like each episode is the pilot so far, and they are all still trying to find their chemistry.
Stagrassle Paranormal (2015)
Sould have been better
It felt like a gem in the rough, but they couldn't move past misogonistic jokes. If The Captain wasn't in the show I probably would have given it a lot more stars. But that slime bucket just kills the humor for me.
Extreme Archaeology (2004)
Made me miss Time Team
All this show really did was make me miss Time Team. I enjoyed that it had more female representation then your average archeology show, but it really didn't cover enough of the actual archeology. They could have done a lot better job if they limited the amount of time they spent getting there and more time on the actual site.
Adult Wednesday Addams (2013)
Genius in both script and execution
What can I say about this show? Well, I came across it by accident and am glad that I did. I marathon'd both seasons in a single sitting. The episodes are short so it's very doable. And do you know what? Adult Wednesday needs to be on network TV. It could wipe the floor with half the drivel that's polluting airwaves these days. Amazing from start to finish. It hits a wonderful balance of witty and dark while keeping it lighthearted and modern. It really is a must watch. Currently there are only two season. I really do hope there is a third season. I would watch it religiously. Melissa hunter was born to play Wednesday. Do you know what you should do now? I bet you do. You should stop reading this and go watch the show. If you're not hooked by the 3rd episode (if not the very 1st) come back and click the down thumb on this review. No seriously, stop reading this and go check out Adult Wednesday. Why are you still here?
