River Wild (2023)
Just watch The River Wild 1994
I grew up watching The River Wild from 1994 all the time alone and with family. It definitely holds a special place in my heart. That movie is fantasic and I recommend it to everyone. This one, not so much. This is is terrible. The acting, the action, the story line, etc. Everything was lacking. The "history" of the main character and the villian shouldnt have even been included, it goes nowhere. Why make a big deal out of it if there's no payoff or confrontation about it. I feel like this project was put together in less than 24 hours. It feels slow and rushed at the same time. The ending was a complete let down as well. Don't waste your time watching this, go watch The River Wild from 1994.
Isle of Dogs (2010)
Yikes...
I just got done watching this film and wow. Just wow.... absolutely horrible! I really only watched it because Gwilym Lee is in it but his part is extremely small and he comes in almost an hour into the film. He deserves better than this pile of rubbish. The script is inept and the acting is downright terrible. The woman who plays the wife was dreadful. The husband did nothing but scream. He screams the same lines over and over again trying to drive a point home but it's just really annoying. The film is unwatchable. I don't think there was anything about the film I enjoyed except Gwilym Lee but if youre a fan of his I'd just stick to Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie is drivel, do yourself a favor and watch another flick.
Capone (2020)
Waste of talent
Ive been wanting to see this movie for a long time. After just seeing it Im very disappointed. Tom Hardy is great as usual but just wasted in this lackluster film. So many other talents wasted as well. Why is it all of Josh Tranks films are so awful? I dont understand it. He has vision but it gets so bogged down by unnecessary crap. Also why add the illegitimate son? It was just another thing that was not needed. The dynamic between real father and son was a much more interesting story. Al Capone did bad things and his son, whom he loved deeply, didnt want to be like his father. This could have been used in the film but nope. We cant possibly have that because that would be interesting. Give the movie a pass and go watch Legend a much better Tom Hardy crime boss film.
Dirty Dancing (2017)
What IS this movie?
Oh man where to begin? I remember hearing about it when it came out but I decided not to see it then because I figured it would be terrible and I was right. I know Abigail Breslin is a good actress, Ive seen her in other movies and shes good but she was horribly miscast here. She has an innocent enough look for Baby but it's almost like they wanted her to look terrible and frumpy. The guy playing Johnny was handsome but not a good actor and just don't have Patrick Swayzes charisma. The leads have no chemistry which is what this movie desperately needed among other things. The costume designer should never work again. It's like they got together and said, "how did people dress in the 60s and 70s? We're not sure so let's wing it instead of researching it". It didnt feel like it was set back in time, the dancing isn't dirty or even sexy in the least, and the acting was just abysmal. Avoid this movie at all costs and just rent the original. Hell watch Dirty Dancing Havana Nights if you have to.
Smile (2009)
What are you "kids" doing out here?
Oh man, now I hate to talk bad about Harriet Macmasters Greens films because im such a fan but good gravy this movie is awful. The voice dubbing is bad, I mean really bad and very noticeable. Terrible acting, terrible script, the whole thing screams high school play. The group is referred to as "kids" but everyone looks like they're at least 40 lol Also, what is with the makeup? They're going camping and trakking through the desert but the makeup looks like theyre on the way to the club. Why is Armand Assante in this? He's way too talented to be wasted in this film. The kills in this movie are amateurish looking at best and this movie commits the worst offense a horror movie can commit, not being scary. Not scary, not even a little bit. I will say though that the locations filmed are indeed beautiful so there's that.
Prisoner of Love (2022)
So cringe....
My expectations weren't high to begin with but I was definitely not prepared for how cringe the movie is. I can't tell if its the script or what but the movie was uncomfortable to sit through. Nicholle Tom's acting was so awful here, I know she is a decent actress but something was off. The actor playing Casey White was somewhat redeeming, he was handsome so there's that. Alot of Vicky's true life backstory was left out of the film that I wish they had included because it gives more insight into how far she fell and more explainations as to why. The overall situation was sad and to an extent I feel bad for Vicky White. This movie had potential and I truly believe it was wasted here.
Shark Bait (2022)
Not terrible
Very predictable plot and full of clichés.
Rational sober good girl
Cheating douche boyfriend
Slutty drunk girl
Possible gay guy
Cool black guy
However, the movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and was actually entertaining. CGI was decent and the acting was good. It wasn't a complete chore to sit through so give it a watch.
Last Shoot Out (2021)
"You shot my Pa"
Saying this film is full of clichés doesn't do it justice. Everything that happens in this movie you've seen before but in much better films. This movie really couldn't really figure out what it wanted to be. A very underdeveloped romance that doesn't make much sense. They barely know each other and literally spend no time alone together. Am I over-thinking it? Possibly. The acting was hit or miss, mostly miss. The main girl really stands out but in a bad way. Apparently she is a former beauty queen trying her hand at acting but she is downright terrible in this film. At least the guy who played Billy Tyson was nice to look at, so it has that going for it and what on Earth was Bruce Dern doing in this stinker? Give this film a pass.
Mother's Day (2010)
Started decent but goes off the rails
Common plot however the acting is actually good. Patrick John Flueger and Frank Grillo are great and Jaime King is better than i thought she would be. The movie starts strong but gets worse as it goes. And that ending, i mean jeez.... one of the major downsides to the movie is there are too many characters. They could have cut the cast down significantly and it would have worked fine.
Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman (2021)
Yes, its bad
Wow this movie isnt just bad, its downright lazy! The movie is so fictionalized that if you took Ted Bundys name off the film you would never guess it was about him. Ive read alot about Ted Bundy over the years and I found fault or untruths in almost every scene. I mean did the people who put this movie together ever even pick up a book about Bundy? The story, the acting, the script, everything was terrible. Avoid at all costs.....
Togo (2019)
So good!
Im so happy Togo got his own movie. Growing up watching Balto I never knew the story of Togo sadly. Im so glad to know of him now and I'll keep him and Seppala in my thoughts and prayers and remember their contributions to the world. The movie is fantastic please check it out!
10 Truths About Love (2022)
Nice to see Camilla Belle but....
Let me start this review by saying Im a huge Camilla Belle fan, have been for years, and I think she is absolutely gorgeous. However this movie is very bland. Camilla Belle has always played it safe in her movie choices and this film is no exception. She is basically playing herself, a kindhearted 30 something woman with an American father and Brazilian mother. The plot is predictable and the acting is lackluster, the two leads have no chemistry whatsoever. Also Camilla got an unfortunate haircut recently so she had to wear a party city wig for this movie. The production couldnt afford a decent wig?
Diablo (2015)
Meh...
This movie isn't anything but wasted potential. Scott Eastwood is very handsome and looks good in a western but maybe he wasnt ready to carry a movie on his own? Eastwood was ok up until Walton Goggins was on screen with him and then Goggins completely steals the show. However Walton Goggins and Camilla Belle are criminally underused in this film and had it had the tendency to drag in certain spots. If you like Westerns maybe give it a watch but there are certainly better ones out there.
The Utah Cabin Murders (2019)
1 star and thats generous
Oh man where to begin? The direction is bad, the acting is bad, everything is bad... Characterization is not a polite suggestion filmmakers! Where was this filmed? Im from Utah and it didn't seem like Utah to me. Also the film gets political for no reason, im here to watch a scary movie not be lectured on the alleged evils of capitalism. Good gravy this movie is trash do yourself a favor and watch anything else!
Dying for Everest (2007)
Please remember David Sharp
David Sharp's death has always troubled me, breaks my heart actually. I wish people cared about other people and their pain and suffering. I think things could have turned out differently for David if people had tried to help him sooner. Some people already thought he was dead, some people didn't even see him in the cave, some people thought he was already too far gone, and some people just didnt care. People did try to help David later but he was barely conscious, severely frostbit, and couldnt walk. David also made some mistakes, not having a radio, not being part of a group, and crawling into that cave. Of course on Everest everyone has to kind of look out for themselves but you should still have some humanity and help others if you can. All in all a good documentary but sad. Please keep David Sharp in your prayers and remember him as a good person and a good mountaineer who died too soon.
The Forever Purge (2021)
Woke garbage
This movie is nothing but woke anti American garbage I'd give this movie a pass.
