If you're going in just looking for some mindless fun and tension for 2 hours, you're going to get it. Is it a great movie? Not really. There are plenty of plot things you can question, and it feels like they're trying too hard to shoehorn Christmas into it to make it a "Christmas movie". But it's fun seeing Jason Bateman in a villain role, and Egerton is fine. The best parts are the quieter moments between just those two characters. When it expands out to LAPD and others, it's not as good. You'll probably look around at the other travelers a lot more the next time you fly after seeing this movie.
I didn't know this was going to be a hockey movie (kidding). I don't remember a ton about the first one, but I remember liking it a lot. This one is very good as well. It suffers a little bit from too many characters, as I found anxiety to be a bit much. But I feel like this one has more scenes in the "real world" with Riley, which I liked. It captures really well what it's like to be a teenager going through puberty and changing schools. There are some good laughs here, especially in the scenes with the video game crush. There are a couple changes in the main cast, but you don't really notice a drop-off.
This is a really interesting depiction of the papal selection process, with some twists and turns sprinkled in. Volde---I mean Ralph Fiennes - is great as the central character who you never really know is completely trustworthy. I loved all the scenes with him and Stanley Tucci. You really don't know where this is going although I did have a sneaking suspicion who was going to end up being elected. I marked the movie down a little bit because I didn't find the final twist all that satisfying or as shocking as they intended. I think it definitely has parallels with political elections, and relevance as our current pope is nearing 90 years old.
