Super low quality for a Tim Burton film. What was the demographic for this? 4 year olds? The CGI is just terrible, and by this time the 90's had decent CGI, just look at Casper. At least with Casper you can suspend some disbelief. I have no idea why some actors agreed to have 2 minute cameos in this movie. I think that's what Tim spent all the money on. Also what was the point of Jack Nicholson playing two different characters? Why was there so many different plot points in this movie? They really had to fill up the time to get this crap in theaters. I'm not a huge fan of Tim Burton, but he does have some charm in some of his movies. I recommend Edward Scissorhands or Big Fish if you want to watch something that Tim Burton actually gave a crap about.
The two main girl characters have absolutely no chemistry, I honestly think one is in love with the other, while the other probably has feelings too but is waaaayyy to emotionally immature to recognize this. Classic trope of emotional character falls for emotionally constipated character. Not too sure what this movie was about other than to animate instruments. Seems like it was very popular in the tumblr girl era. The other movie by this director 'silent voice' was also very -teenagers being emotional trainwrecks-, although that movie was better in my opinion, more interesting story. A pro I can say is, the animation is smooth and good.
