This is a beautiful film about friendship between an animal & a human...yet it is so much more. Filmmaker Cheryl Allison came upon this goose in the park when she used walks as her way to cope during the shutdown portion of the pandemic. What blossomed was an incredible relationship that one usually thinks of with a dog or cat. This film enlightens viewers on domestic fowl while sharing a wonderful story of how we help animals and animals help us. Directing a documentary that you also happen to be part of the subject is a tricky matter. Cheryl has navigated this so smartly...making sure the attention stays on Honk (though we still get to see what a kind & caring person she is with what she did for this goose during the pandemic). This film is perfect for audiences of all ages. You won't be disappointed for spending your time with Honk & Cheryl in this engaging and moving documentary.
Great film! Cleverly written comedy with a message for us all. I wasn't sure what to expect, but as someone who has been to many short film festivals, it is obvious why this one has won so many awards. Loved the writing, directing and the performances. Also really enjoyed the fact that was a truly a family affair. Bravo, all!
I first saw Gerald McCullouch in a play in NYC (sorry, I never got into CSI) and from then on, watched him in everything that I could. There is such an honesty in his acting and he has transferred that same sincerity into his feature film directorial debut. Many may think Daddy to be the standard gay-themed sex comedy (due to the title), but they would be sorely mistaken. Dan Via has adapted his complex stage play for the film and does double duty by wonderfully playing the best friend. At the core of this story, it's all about relationships and families that we create. I found myself very moved by this film and recommend for those looking for something different from the usual Hollywood gay fare.
