Talk to Me (2022)
It grabs you just like the 'hand' ...
We 've seen before movies with spirits and ghosts but this one is something new.. The set up is so refreshing and powerful that grabs your attention from the very first moment and don't let you go. It has some 'it follows' vibes, there are many intense moments, some of them are disturbing too and everyone did a great job... descent acting, the plot was unpredictable, and special effects doesn't seemed fake at all... you 'll have a great time watching this, trust me.. i loved the opening scene and as a Greek i loved the ending scene as well.. i had literally goosebumps. I am waiting for part 2 wishing to take place in my country.
Black Mirror: Mazey Day (2023)
i knew it's gonna be the best episode...
...since i saw the low ratings. I get the point it has nothing to do about technology which is the series' vibe, and this is the reason that black mirror's viewers are intellectual and love overthinking.. This one was not that kind of episode.. this one was pure horror/fantasy so they might got disappointed but i loved it. Actually there was some food of though but the horror part was so intense that they got distracted.. although i had a great time and. The plot twist came all of sudden and the gore was supercool.. i wish there was more like this in this season which it was quite borring... till now.. highly recomended for horror fans.. the rest just skip it!!
The Tank (2023)
Budget is so important at horror movies...
A big budget can upgrade a good movie and a small one can literally ruin a good one. This movie is a great example of the second option. The idea is brilliant to me, and the set up very interesting and so promising. A couple is moving on an old abandoned house that use to live lead actor's family. There is a mystery of his father and sister's sudden deaths and why did his mother lied to him about them and what she hides about that house? At the same time we have a secret tank that something seems to live in there and i guess soon or late they 're gonna face it.. Perfect combination of plot and creepy vibes.. But that's it! Due to limited budget there are few actors, there are no SGI at all, the action is poor and many times looks like amateur! I wish it was way better...
The Boogeyman (2023)
enjoy one of the creepiest movies of 2023
Watching a movie at the cinema upgrades the experience for sure... So maybe i am overreacted about it but i had a really great time... The casting the direction, the CGI, the storyline were all perfect to me... it started with a creepy build up with really strong jump-scares and escalated to a thrilling ending scene and i am pretty sure that that now on you're gonna think twice sleeping again with lights out.. Highly recomended for all horror fans.. this one with Evil Dead Rise and Smile are the trinity of best movies so far i 've seen last few years. Grab some popcorn and get ready for a serious messed up.
Scream VI (2023)
nostalgia is my motivation for watching this
Just like the killer's motivation... nostalgia is the reason i keep watching every single scream movie comes out.. i was 13 years old when i did watch for the first time 'scream' in a small cinema at Athens... i still remember the strong opening scene with Drew Barrymore.. the chasings with the killer.. the plot twist with Billy and Stew... and that's why i keep watching 'Screams'.. due to nostalgia.. but i think it went too far.. the set up is old-fashioned now-days.. i remember me dressed up Ghost face in Carnival of 2012.. haha
i can't even follow the storyline about who's father is Bill or Stew's cousins etc i don't even care... Although i have to admit that it was a pretty descent effort this one to approach the first scream's vibes.. the lead girls were good at acting.. the scenes with Ghost face intense and fresh and i really had a great time...way better than the previous of the franchise that was a joke.. this was good... not perfect.. just good... the opening scene was completely useless to the storyline and weak.. a better one was needed for sure..
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
This is too, too brutal, even for horror fans
I've just watched evil dead rise.. first day at Greek theaters. I was so looking forward for this. I can't give it less than 10. It was exactly what i was prepared for and my expectations are high. The set up was brilliant.. A great opening scene...a storyline preparing you for what is coming up next... and then action.. continuously, till the end! It was too much even for me and i've seen plenty of horror stuff... but all this gore, so much blood, you have to be kind of hardcore viewer to appreciate this beastly sight. Not for everyone but a true masterpiece for horror fans.. Full of jumpscares, stunning scenes with great SGI...
you 're gonna have a great time watching it for sure! Best 2023 movie so far...
Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (2021)
found footage style is outdated, movie was great!
When the found footage style came up at movies was a fresh brilliant idea to share more creepy vibes to the audience.. and it really worked out at many movies such as Blair witch project, paranormal activity, rec, jeruzalem etc.
Nowdays is kind of dated and was useless at this story but i guess it should be used like every movie at paranormal activity franchise. Well this one has nothing to do with previous movies! But still is very cool movie and there was no need be promoted by the title.. it can easily stand by itself to horror fans.. the set up is awesome, an abandoned farm at nowhere with religious freaks hiding a secret, ok nothing new here, but the story escalates quickly, there are a few good jump-scares and some really disturbing images that will give you goosebumps. All you need is a snack and low or none lights.. and you 'll have a great time.. some times the hand camera shots will make you feel dizzy. If this was directed normaly it whould be upgrated to 8.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
it could be great with a bigger budget
The idea of taking a cute character of your childhood and turning him into a serial killer was silly and clever at the same time.. the old fashioned slasher recipe of taking 5 youngsters at a quite place in the woods being attacked by a creepy maniac is my favorite and always entertains me.. you add some nudity, some silly decisions and the gore begins... but unfortunately the budget was so low i guess, that actors were unknown to me and the acting was literally bad (the so called Christopher tried a little bit more than all the others), the customs were fake, and some death scenes seemed funny instead of creepy... so i believe the main problem was the low budget that put the movie down.. if they had better CGI and better actors the movie would be much more believable. After all the storyline was good enough, there was plenty of gore and it wasn't that long to get bored. Deserves better rating for sure.. i 've seen worse movies. Go for it, just don't take it seriously...
Goodnight Mommy (2022)
that's the plot-lines we want...
I am sick of cursed dolls, hunting houses and exorcisms.. we need fresh ideas and this is surprisingly good. To be honest always seduce me movies with people's mental issues and plot twists and this one has both of them... maybe some action was needed more but even this kind of slow build up creates a creepy atmosphere that soon escalates to a great twist that will blow your brain up. When a plot leads to a deadlock and makes one lose sight of who is the good or the bad, and what was actually happened it's obvious that the movie worked out perfectly. I Failed to guess what was all about, the movie manipulated me to completely wrong direction. The kid's acting was flawless and i am so enjoyed it..
Knock at the Cabin (2023)
advertised as a horror film but it's not!
We all know that M. Night Shyamalan makes weird movies. He likes hidden messages and symbolisms. It's difficult for me to figure out if i liked it or not!
I respect the religious background when it finally revealed but i guess it has been advertised as a horror film in order to gain some viewers and that's the problem.. they won't like it. It starts so promising but escalates to nothing... a plot twist was needed and more action for sure! Imagine a twist in the middle of the story revealing that all these news were fake or pre-recorded and these group were religious psycho freaks and a tense chase was taking place.. it would be a great upgrade for the film. Even the deaths were not shown. But they preferred Eric's sacrifice motivated by love and forgiveness to save humans from their sins, just like Jesus! OK cool message, food for thought yes but i was prepared for something else.
The Last of Us (2023)
so much promising...
I' ve just watched the first episode, i
don't know what's coming up next but i want so much to put a review cause i was excited.. Forgive me if i am rushed but the quality of this show is so obvious.. the acting is so convincing and the special effects amazing! I wish, it keep up that way and i am pretty sure it will... it deserves the high score it gets 'till now and this show is already viral here in Greece and everyone talks about it... keep on mind that it's a drama horror story like walking dead and invasion, so do not wait brutal scenes all the time and continuously action, there will be slow paced scenes and emotional moments so maybe it's not everyone's cup of tea! But no one denies the production's high level and the cinematography.
Ps: sorry for my english, it's not my native language.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
It's not as bad as it seems... it's worse!
In that kind of horror movies.. the opening scene is the best sign to figure out if is gonna be good or bad! Well after this ridiculous start, i knew that it would be bad, but i had already order a pizza and i wanted to see a movie while i was eating... so i kept going.. but every single minute was harmful.. the costume was so fake, the special effects.. wasn't that special i suppose and the dialogues completely ridiculous.. the acting was a tragedy.. or should i say a comedy and in the plot-line was pointless and boring... ok avoid this movie as hell... even if you are a prisoner and you have plenty of time. There is nothing in common with the franchise... not even close!
Plane (2023)
Gerald butler : same person -different career
When you see Gerard Butler as the lead actor you know that is gonna be an entertaining pop corn movie for sure. The concept is pretty much the same a normal family guy struggling to survive and kick some asses... but you never get bored of it because the nature of his job at every plot, always change... policeman, soldier, mechanic and this time pilot.. Lionsgate never disappoints me in production, SGI were decent and the rest of the cast solid and likeable and if you ignore the exaggeration that every action movie has, you 're gonna really enjoy it... extra credits for the gunshot and death scenes that looked so real but i felt that some emotional vibes needed more.. highly recommended and i already started guessing Gerald's next job.. hmmm an austronaut? No already done.. maybe a fireman...
There's Something Wrong with the Children (2023)
i was hopping to a great ending.. but it never came
I love horror movies that take place in the woods... so despite i knew it whould be a low budget film without any special effects, i was hopping to a creepy atmosphere and storyline.. so i gave it a chance.. And to be honest it started out interesting..i Missed the jump-scares, i missed action but still i thought that it was building up something deep and inspired.. tha acting wasn't convincing the dialogues were pointless, i got bored several times but still kept me awake and wondering, the mystery dragged me to the end to figure out what was all about but finally escalated to nothing... every single hope fell apart.. nothing explained and we never find out what was wrong with the children... too bad!
Sick (2022)
all the cliché to a slasher movie you love to hate...
I don't know why this released directly on streaming and not at theaters (cinemas we called them on Greece). It deserves more reputation, i chose it by luck, but since i noticed Blumhouse and Miramax at the beginning i knew it's gonna be good... and it literally was! Strong opening scene.. it gave me goosebumps, it reminded me classic slasher films like Scream or Friday 13th... very intense 'cat and mouse' scenes that kept me at the edge of my seat. Covid, remains viral in a way but all these stuff and protection measures nowdays seems so overreacting that made the movie even creepier about how life was 2 years ago.. the acting was cool and i loved that it got quickly in action.. highly recomended you'll have a great time.. very entertaining! Didn't get bored at all.. and be prepared for all the clichè you love to hate...
Prey for the Devil (2022)
Why do i keep watching exorcism movies...
Well religious stuff seduce me in movies... i've seen many good ones in the past but last years every single movie i picked was literally empty.. maybe it's my fault.. i 've seen everything about this topic falling angels, demons, possessed kids, demons, curses. I don't know... i am sicked of that storyline, a possessed girl climbing the walls, harming herself, swearing the priest or exposing his past...every time i give a it a change and i say to my self.. it might be something new, with creepy atmosphere and plot twist.. but it's the same stuff.. maybe i should give it a break.. but i have to say at least this one had descent SGI and good acting.. i 've seen some similar movies that were completely trash...
M3GAN (2022)
a little bit from all genres...
M3gan is an entertaining movie that tried so hard to be likable to every audience... sometimes get emotional.. some times get funny... some times creepy and some times sci-fi.. but the idea is cool, the acting descent and the production very good.. That's the reason i guess that no-one would give a score less than 5 and more than 8... you can watch it a Saturday night at cinema or a Sunday noon at home. It suits fine at every occasion. As a horror fan i wish it had more horror and gore but i still enjoyed it.. You'll have a great time.. go for it! After all there isn't any significant other movie now running at Greek theaters besides this and Avatar.. i didn't regret it!
Terrifier 2 (2022)
it didn't worked out for me...
Suddenly, a horror b movie came out at Greek theaters and everyone was talking about it. I skipped it for several times but i couldn't anymore. Soon became viral... so i decided to watch it.. i wanted so much to like it, i am a horror fan and i love creativity gore and variety at death scenes and this had plenty of these. But it was just that. No back up story, the acting was terrible and it was too long.. and because of the storyline's absence seemed even longer! Gore is a good ingredient for a horror movie.. but there wasn't any jumpscares, frightening moments, build up or strong character.. it was way too flat.. just a psychopath slaughtering people.
Run (2020)
amazing acting, both sides
I usually watch horror movies, so i skipped this for several times, past two years. I though it was too 'light' for my taste.. but i decided to go over it, due to a similar incident here in Greece, running for days at the news. Well i was right... after terrifier 2 it was like watching a cartoon but... there is a but... ok no visuals at all, no kills, no blood but the acting was amazing from all cast, even the postman, something that made me watching at the edge of my seat as long as the story was escalating.. the story was interesting, entertaining and disturbing at the same time full of tense... actually the story was so strong that i did not miss a lot the 'showdown'. After all i was prepared of what i was going to see and mentally unstable characters are my cup of tea .. It was a very well-written psychological thriller, kudos to all!
The Visitor (2022)
1'st bad movie i've seen from blumhouse
Well you never know if a movie would be good or not. There are trailers that mislead you.. there are friends that love a movie but when you watch it you turn off... The only safe sign for a good horror movie is when you see lionsgate or blumhouse logo at the beginning... and for many years i 've never got disappointed...'till now... The main actor was good and he tried hard.. also the mystery at first with the paintings kind of drag you down... but everything else is so bad.. the other actors seems like were bored.. the hole movie builds something that escalates to nothing...completely slow with a twist that nobody cares about it
anymore.. I am twice dissapointed cause i usually love films with mental unstable characters or religious-demonic stuff.. Hereditary and Eli are way better choices, do not waste your time on this...
Ma (2019)
if you like people with mental issues at horror movies you 're gonna love this...
'Ma' in Greek means 'But' and this title also suits me fine for this movie.. Because it starts with a middle aged lady who decides to help some youngsters buy some drinks from the store cause i guess you're not allowed to if you are younger than 18 age years old or 16.. i am not sure.. Soon they start spending time at her basement and everything seems cool. Well it is kind of weird but seems that she has plenty of issues such as loneliness, difficult child age, bulling... so you may feel sorry for her despite the fact that makes you feel uncomfortable continuously.. But things getting creepier and creepier and the story escalates in a sick crazy situation. Ok the motivation is weak to do all these stuff.. But the acting is flawless and the cringe vibes are good enough to drag you in her dark mental health. Its pretty entertaining and highly recommended for horror fans. After all when you see blumhouse at the beginning.. you know that it would be great!
Eight for Silver (2021)
never mess with gypsy old ladies...
I have no clue if this is common for all, but in my country Greece, this set up with gypsies, especially old ladies, is well known.. We believe they can curse you, they can bring you bad luck, they can predict your future just looking to your hands and many more creepy stuff.. so i quickly got into the movie despite the fact that old fashioned style of movies with clothes and horses and no electricity is not my cup of tea... But horror was good, the story escalated to something more than just a curse and the gore gave me chills for several times. Good acting, cool visuals. I'd prefer if the story had took place to nowdays but i
guess there is also audience that loves that gothic style...
Speak No Evil (2022)
totally disturbing... goal achieved!
I am from Greece and i love watching horror/thriller/survival movies and i always give a chance to European productions because i believe we can do it as good as Americans do it. The budget is lower so i don't expect much CGI or visuals but the build up, the characters, the landscapes, emotionally... almost never disappoints me.. Its more realistic to me than hollywood stuff.. maybe it's the culture vibes i am not sure, but most American movies seems foolish even if there are fan as hell.
I skipped several times this one but i finally decide to watch it. And totally freaked me out.. The atmosphere was creepy from the very first minute even if nothing was happening... it was so disturbing even without spirits, monsters or something. It was just the good acting and the build up. I am so happy i finally did watch this but i don't wanna ever see it again...
Significant Other (2022)
what a cocktail of genres was that?
I do like alien movies... i do like horror movies... i do like drama also and sometimes supernatural movies as well... but i never though all these together mixed up...such a weird combination! It's like eating chocolate with french fries or drinking coffee with beer if you know what i mean...this movie changes character like three different times, i liked the part before the twist, i liked the part after the twist... but not the movie as a set! I won't recomended it at all, weird stuff happening all the time, you have to be a little bit crazy or drunk to like a Dj that plays metal and pop and folk all together on a night... i am so messed up i don't know what score should i give... so neutral '5' suits me fine at this point.
Monsters (2022)
It's hard to watch when the acting is so good and the plot is taken from real life incidents
When the story took place between 1978 and 1991, i was newborn so i don't remember anything heard about it, here in Greece... i learned about it while i started watching the series and at the same time, i was seatching info about it... It's kind of weird to write a review about the series knowing that this truly happened and the victims weren't just actors. They weren't just a role-play. They were real people with loving families, breathing, living, hoping. The main actor's acting was brilliant.. a disturbing person with a lot of external things from the way that he walks, he doesn't move his arms when he walks and talks and his appearance very close to the real one Dahmer... The others did a great job as well. Every episode makes me upset and leaves me feeling depressed due to the way in which a murder is carried out, or even just the downright creepiness surrounding the crime. I am pretty sure it is a descent show, and besides the creepy story it's one more step to eliminate racism. If this was the vibe of 80's and 90's about it, i am happy we are way better nowdays. About the series now episode 6 was a masterpiece i wish they had focus a little bit more to every victim's life the way they did with Tony Hughes. Also i am not fan of the 'now' and 'then' set up at movies or series so i 'd prefer the story was in the right order.. all this forward and backword was confusing.. but despite these two things the show was very good and kind of addictive 'till the end like a horror movie...i still cannot accept that it was all real... crimes happens too in my country too but i can't think of something that cruel...
