Who wants a shot for shot remake of the Bob Clark classic? No one.
Well, this one doesn't try to do that, and is all the better for it. It's unapologetically sleazy, well shot, and loaded with fun characters.
The Billy Lenz origin subplot isn't for everyone. It made my skin crawl. The fact that he is SA'ed by his mother, then locked in the attic for the better part of his childhood is really a sad case. His subsequent revenge, Including making Christmas cookies out of his mother's flesh, is very satisfying and will scratch your gore itch nicely.
The sorority sisters are a fun cast of characters, and Andrea Martin makes a fantastic House Mother. Lacey Chabert, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Katie Cassidy, Michelle Trachtenberg and the other young actresses all make for a fun ensemble cast.
Don't go in expecting a true remake, which lets admit, most would automatically hate anyway. Instead, embrace this 2006 reimagining as a creepy new spin on the source material.
