This movie is an reminder that it's OK to strip away the big budgets and special effects, and just let an honest story be told through real characters. Although the first spontaneous song moment did have me worrying I'd let myself in for a Hairspray-style musical kind of film, thankfully that wasn't the case and the remainder of the songs were used well in the context of the storyline and kept us in the moment of the band rehearsal setting. What was particularly interesting about this movie is that it takes place almost in real time, in one location, ensuring the focus is kept entirely on the development of the story. Greg Stone in particular created an embodiment of his character Riff that was well-placed to lead the cast throughout the movie. Favourite moment: Brendan's big dummy spit.
