I like Jackie Chan movies and I think John Cusack is a good actor and Adrian Brody is one of the best. That being said there are so many things that are offkilter in this. The Chinese, of course, are fairly accurate in terms of armor, clothing, and building styles. The Roman are, shall we say all wrong Romans centuries were not horseman. The armor is completely wrong as is just about everything else. Tiberius is all wrong as he succeeded Octavian in 14 AD. All in all this is not something you wanna bother with and unless you're looking for a way to waste some time. I'd say more but anybody who knows anything about history will realize what a joke this is.
It's a well-made series could've been compressed to 2 1/2 hour movie. From my readings this was very authentic as far as looks of camp clothing instruments. The history is a touch off, and there are little goose throughout the show horses face into the wind, not likely not unsettled, not fed, but expected to continue to carry. Manhunters after the woman and child seemed to be able to find their way despite not knowing where their quarry is. Other than that enjoyable and worth the time to binge. It would be nice if more of this quality were made such as this and the English. If more people will write reviews, we should hopefully get more type of this show.
The series based on George Stewart, the abides misses the boat so badly. It's like it never even came in. The glory of the book wasn't just the tale of Ish and the people who became his followers, but of the interlude describing how the earth was changing. Written in 1949 the book is dated by today's standards, but with the CGI and the writers out there they could've done a better job. While entertaining in some respects the series misses the mark of badly come on people gasoline still around 20 years. You're lucky to have it for two years without preservative in four years with the electricity from the solar panel is acceptable, but the water system requires maintenance a need to run out long before The so-called wolf showed up. Ammunition medicines all would've been available in the first year or two and ammunition is good up to 20 years if taken care of not frozen, not overheated not soaked underwater, etc.. My advice is to read the book and then we judge the movie.
