Like others, I was expecting it to be a newer Twister, but they missed the mark. It was just dull and meandering around. Lots of inconsistencies throughout and barely showing any action.
Like Twister it centered around a parent who had been killed in a storm and was about storm chasing and using a gadget that would do something to help early storm detection (although they never really explain what the heck it does).
That is where the similarities end, the rest of a kid trying to discover more about his dad and doing so by being fairly annoying. There are much better storm movies out there including Into the Storm or even the Hurricane Heist which isn't great, but more entertaining.

Even though I heard many of the ratings were bogus, I still didn't think it would be as good as it was. Completely enjoyable and can't wait for more. The cinematography is stunning and the plot is way more action packed than I was expecting.
I have read some of his books but wouldn't consider myself a die hard LOTR fan, in fact the slowness of the Hobbit movies kind of turned me off to this. I am glad the pace is better than the movies.
Also to note, at this time of my review there are 87k ratings and only 74 reviews. Yet House of the Dragon has 83k ratings and 800 reviews. Something seems a little fake about all these bad ratings with no reviews. People just hating on Amazon and this show. Hopefully imdb and rotten tomatoes figure out a way of removing the fake ones.

Apparently when people "can't get a dial tone" on their cellphones in Africa they take a casual hike through what looks like Oregon. The pretty people say words but the dialogue is irrelevant.
