Chhoti Si Baat (1976)
Great screenplay
A shy and awkward young man trying to win the affection of a woman. His journey, filled with small struggles and humorous moments, is both relatable and endearing. Ashok Kumar's role adds a delightful twist, helping Arun gain the confidence he needs. The film's gentle humor, memorable music by Salil Chowdhury, and simple yet heartfelt story make it a timeless classic that leaves you smiling.
A charming, feel-good film that stands the test of time, reflecting the simplicity and innocence of love in an era when life was less complicated. It's a movie that leaves you with a smile, reminding you that sometimes, the smallest gestures and the simplest stories can be the most heartwarming.

Beautiful
A poignant tale of love, loss, and longing, intricately woven with emotions that linger long after the film ends. The narrative is a beautifully complex exploration of relationships, where the lines between love and duty, past and present, are blurred with haunting realism. The film's screenplay, adapted from Subodh Ghosh's story "Jatugriha," is a testament to Gulzar's genius, capturing the essence of unspoken emotions and the pain of unresolved conflicts. The performances are stellar, with Rekha, Naseeruddin Shah, and Anuradha Patel delivering some of the finest portrayals of their careers. The music by R. D. Burman, with lyrics by Gulzar, is soul-stirring, perfectly complementing the film's melancholic yet hopeful tone.

Oppenheimer (2023)
A Masterpiece in Biographical Filmmaking, Yet Yearning for Deeper Exploration
"Oppenheimer" stands as a monumental biographical movie that captures the life and legacy of one of the most complex and significant figures in history. While it unquestionably shines as a cinematic achievement, your sentiment that you wanted more suggests a yearning for an even deeper exploration of the subject matter.
The film delves into the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the brilliant scientist who played a pivotal role in the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. The portrayal of his genius, his moral dilemmas, and the profound impact of his work on humanity is likely both mesmerizing and thought-provoking. The meticulous attention to detail, historical accuracy, and the portrayal of the era are all testament to the dedication of the filmmakers and the actors involved.
However, your desire for the movie to offer more might stem from a few different factors. Biographical films often face the challenge of condensing a person's life into a limited runtime, which can sometimes lead to the omission of certain aspects or events. As viewers, we might yearn for a deeper dive into the psychological complexities of the character, a more thorough exploration of the historical context, or a deeper understanding of the person's motivations and inner struggles.
"Oppenheimer" seems to have struck a chord by presenting the larger-than-life story of a fascinating individual. Yet, it's not uncommon for biographical films to leave viewers wanting more, especially when the subject's life is rich and multifaceted. This could be an indication of the film's ability to pique your interest and spark your curiosity about J. Robert Oppenheimer's life and the broader historical context in which he operated.
In the world of biographical filmmaking, balancing storytelling, historical accuracy, and the complexity of a person's life is a delicate art. It's possible that the movie's impact on you might lead you to explore further, whether through reading biographies, researching historical accounts, or engaging in discussions about the subject.
In conclusion, "Oppenheimer" appears to have succeeded in crafting a biographical movie that captures the essence of its subject and the historical significance of his contributions. My desire for more depth signifies the film's ability to engage and stimulate my curiosity. While the movie might not provide every detail I was hoping for, it could serve as a steppingstone for deeper exploration and understanding of the remarkable individual and the era in which he lived.

Shantaram (2022)
No need to watch, if you have read the book.
If you can convince yourself that everything, you're seeing is a performance (after all, that's what Movies and TV shows are, right?), then hanging out with warm Hunnam and the weird ensemble of characters won't seem like such a chore.
The show is good because of the great story and good screenplay but the casting is horrible. The Indian and Australian accents don't make a sense. I would have given it an 8 if not for the bad casting. If you can get beyond the jarring dialogue, made-up settings, a bit disjointed storytelling, the show isn't half bad.
The warm/soft tone of the show has enticed me, and I am watching it for the India of those days.
Also, if you have read the book, you don't need this. The book is much more detailed: The dialogues, the chemistry between the characters, the characters arcs are well defined.
Call Me by Your Name (2017)
Beautiful, but have a feeling that it could have been better
The movie/book also explains how our education and experiences with art and culture may help us become more respectful, empathetic, and compassionate. Books, movies, and experiences are essential in one's growth as a human being. Since Elio's parents have educated themselves about homosexuality via literature and history, they do not have homophobic attitudes. As a result, while people might see Elio and Oliver's friendship with disgust and anger or insecurity, they look at them with respect, admiration, and compassion. Their respect for him and Oliver and their understanding of the relationship is plain to see. For example, while Elio is sobbing in the car, his mom does not question or scold him; instead, she sits quietly next to him, driving, showing compassion, understanding, and respect. The most remarkable scene is, in any way, the son-father scene. I have no words for it. The movie does it as beautifully as the book.
Mahabharat (1988)
Great when release
It must have been great in early 90s but the show doesn't have the visual quality for 2020s viewer. 2013 Mahabharata is much better. Also, the acting is old.
Qarib Qarib Singlle (2017)
Irrfan Saahab at his best!
Irrfan's comedic timing is exceptional. The way he deals with his characters is on another level. Parvathy is very charming and they form a great pair. Lovely light hearted movie.
Tamasha (2015)
Embracing Authenticity and Love: In fascination with Imtiaz Ali's world
"Tamasha" is a cinematic masterpiece that weaves together the intricacies of self-discovery, love, and the pursuit of personal authenticity. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film transcends traditional romance by delving deep into the human psyche, leaving an indelible mark on its viewers.
Set against breathtaking backdrops ranging from the enchanting locales of Corsica to the bustling streets of Delhi, "Tamasha" follows the journey of Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) and Tara (Deepika Padukone), two souls who meet during a holiday but are bound by societal norms. They share an ephemeral connection that awakens something within them, but circumstances force them to part ways.
Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Ved is a revelation. His performance artfully portrays the struggles of a man torn between societal expectations and his inner desires. Kapoor's ability to seamlessly transition between Ved's various personas - from the restrained office worker to the uninhibited storyteller - is a testament to his acting prowess. Deepika Padukone's Tara is a breath of fresh air, portraying a woman who embraces her own authenticity while challenging Ved to do the same.
Imtiaz Ali's direction is masterful as he navigates the emotional landscapes of his characters. The film's nonlinear narrative draws parallels between the protagonists' journey and traditional storytelling, emphasizing the importance of personal narratives in shaping our identities. The film's poignant moments of introspection, particularly the "Agar Tum Saath Ho" scene, resonate deeply with audiences as they mirror the internal conflicts many face in their quest to be true to themselves.
The film's thematic exploration of societal conformity versus individuality serves as a powerful allegory for the struggles of modern existence. Ved's transformation from a mundane life to embracing his true passion is a source of inspiration, encouraging viewers to break free from the molds society imposes. The narrative's connection with the audience is heightened by A. R. Rahman's evocative music, which captures the essence of the characters' emotions and adds a layer of profound beauty to the storytelling.
"Tamasha" is a love story unlike any other, grounded in the complexities of human identity and relationships. It captures the essence of personal struggles and growth, inviting viewers to reflect on their own lives and the masks they wear to conform. The film's message is clear: the pursuit of personal authenticity is a journey worth taking, even if it means defying societal norms.
In conclusion, "Tamasha" is a cinematic triumph that resonates deeply with anyone who has ever questioned their identity, purpose, or the path they're meant to follow. Imtiaz Ali's direction, coupled with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's captivating performances, make this film a timeless favorite. It's a reminder that true love and personal authenticity go hand in hand, and embracing both can lead to a life lived fully and unapologetically.

Loved the Characters
This is one of the best of Irrfaan Saahab, Amitji and Deepika. The characters are so well written and the story revolves around them taking the story along with them.
Typewriter (2019)
Suitable for Children, Bad for Adults. MAKERS COULDN'T DECIDE THE AUDIENCE
For all binge-watching Netflix shows, this isn't meant for you. The show is intended for children, and they might(might not) enjoy it. Moreover, there is nothing in it for adults: no chills, a few thrills and massive plot loopholes.
The direction is right, but the story disappoints me to the extent that the loopholes are unbearable in the end. Children might not notice this and enjoy.
