A Timeless Christmas (2020)
Good movie - just go with it
I'll start with I love Ryan Paevey. He was the draw for me. Add in time travel and I'm really hooked.
If you can suspend belief, which anymore we need to do with most movies, then it's pretty good. Charles time travels from 1903 and easily transitions to modern times. I wasn't bothered by that because he was a future thinker, and even talked about flying when in 1903. For someone like that, and assumingly pretty smart, adapting to seeing/using tvs and other modern gadgets didn't seem like much of a stretch. The Blue moon on 12/18 didn't make sense, but sometimes you just gotta go with it.
I didn't like the ending. As others have mentioned, I would have preferred that he traveled back to 1903 and kept his estate and business. He could have let Eliza go. I thought he would go back and Megan would potentially end up with his look alike and just as kind great-grandson, or somehow return to present times. Overall though, a good Hallmark movie.
Agent of Deceit (2019)
Really Dumb
I am one who can suspend reality on many of these Lifetime movies. But witin the first 10 minutes, I just couldn't. The female detective tells Amanda she needs to go buy a gun. It's the only way she can protect herself!! Then Amanda goes to a shooting range and with a two minute lesson is a crack shot - she hit the "head", a hard shot, five times in a row. In the next scene, the female detective's garage door won't open, so she gets in her car and turns it on to try and open it. Ummm, there is a way to manually open a garage door. Of course, she dies.
I've probably let more slide with other Lifetime movies, but, maybe it's because of my training, I just can't. The dumb just continues with the movie.
The Call (2013)
2nd Half Lost the edge
The first hour was decent - a 911 operator on a call with a kidnapped teen. While artistic license was taken here too, I was able enjoy the movie. But, while I'm pretty good at suspending disbelief, I just couldn't get over the police storming into the empty house and then leaving. It had a "taking my ball and going home" feel to me. I would expect another team to come in and start scouring the home looking for evidence or clues to find the teen, or at least learn more about the abductor. But no - everyone just up and left leaving it open for Jordan to go back and investigate on her own.
The ending was also pretty stupid. First, if Jordan so easily found the trap door, it's pretty likely someone else will find it (since the police know the location, they should be back....or maybe not.) Also, the other victims could potentially never be found. Jordan was in a bad spot earlier with a bad decision. Really bad ending.
It really seems like two different people wrote this movie.
