Plot
Five live streaming serial killers compete against each other as they stalk and slash their way through a group of unsuspecting victims for the twisted pleasure of their dark web audience.
Cast
Not familiar with anybody involved thankfully, Deniella Alexis was the only one with any level of competence, every other person in front of that camera had no place being there.
Verdict
Each movie night both myself and my other half pick a movie, this was hers. It's not that it looked interesting, it's just she knows I've seen everything so generally just goes with the first film she finds that she knows I haven't and that brought us Murderfest.
Now within seconds you'll notice the movie has a budget comparable with the cost of a Big Mac with small fries. Now to be clear I'm not elitist type who only likes high budget movies, but on the flipside I am a believer in if you don't have the budget to pull something off then you know, don't.
Murderfest falls under a sub-genre that myself and the other half like, I don't know what you'd call it other than death game? Here we have an unoriginal streamed on the deep web event and someone thought it would be a good idea to film half the movie in the first person on poor quality shaking cameras that are positioned in such a way that you can't even see a kill taking place (Or maybe that was the intention).
The acting is offensively bad, some of the voices from the killers are so over the top absurd it actually made me cringe. The kills are very poor, the lack of budget shows, the overall execution of the movie demonstrates that those behind the camera are equally bad.
Murderfest is one of the worst movies of the year, I'm glad the creator hasn't done much in his career, lowers the chance of me being tortured by another one of his awful films.
Rants
And here we go again, a movie shilled beyond belief. I was suspicious of the high rating so naturally jumped to the reviews and they're all 9 or 10's, they all fawn over the film to ridiculous extents, they name drop the creators which is a blatant sign of shilling usually by the creator or their friends/family and many say absurd things. This is a great 80's slasher for example? How? It's not set in the 80's, it doesn't have 80's style music, it doesn't have an 80's look. You don't stick a mask on a killer and say it's 80's! For crying out loud. Why shill? People can clearly tell which makes you look bad, furthermore you don't get to see what people really think. Wouldn't you be happier seeing a high rating for real not faked?
The Good
Deniella Alexis was passable here
The Bad
Weak kills Awful acting Dreadful cinematography Poorly constructed.

Plot
Become the best police officer of the intergalactic patrol, watch over the planet's border and protect the galaxy. Analyze papers from all types of aliens and check their luggage.
Cast
Not familiar with those involved.
Verdict
Let's not kid ourselves the gaming industry isn't in a good place for a host of reasons and part of that is because everything is so incredibly stale! It's like the creators are just out of ideas and rely too heavily on tried and tested formulas and never take risks offering us anything new.
Space Papers caught my eye immediately due to the art style, colorful, charming and reminding me of a number of animated sci-fi shows such as Futurama. I love indie games and tend to find myself on them more than AAA titles these days and Space Papers demonstrates why that is.
You see Space Papers is unique, it presents a setting and gameplay unlike anything we've seen before. Many people would accuse it of being a "Mobile game", my stance is who cares? I don't care what you want to call it if it's good and Space Papers is certainly good.
Challenging but mostly not frustrating, great visuals and a lot of fun. Sequel please!
Rants
I'll never understand why people choose the yearly Fifa, CoD and other generic titles over games like this. Do they not want a challenge? Has gaming become about repetition and folks not wanting anything new? That kind of mentality makes it look and feel like a chore. I remember my World of Warcraft days when raiding felt like a chore and an obligation rather than what gaming is supposed to be all about namely fun!
The Good
Great visuals Very addictive Charming
The Bad
No explanation why you failed sometimes More variety of travelers would have gone a long way.

Plot
While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
Cast
A mostly young cast of folks I barely or don't even know.
Spaeny was a passable lead and Jonsson was the stand out performer of the movie.
Verdict
I love xenomorphs, I don't always like the movies they're in however. In fact when creating my Aliens/Predator universe best to worst list I was alarmed at just how low the average ratings were and after the likes of Prometheus and Convenant I had little to no faith this would be good.
I often skip trailers as they spoil too much but as my expectations were already low I decided there'd be no harm and I'd likely not be rushing to watch it anyway. I was immediately concerned by the young cast, it just didn't work for me and I feared this would damage the movie further. Then I remembered I thought the same thing about the ill fated Willow (2022) and was proven wrong so kept an open mind going in.
The first thing you notice is the feeling that you're in that familiar Alien universe, it presents this exceptionally well. Then it builds up that familiar dread and does it fantastically well, a nice slow burn but doesn't leave it too late to deliver lots of xenomorph action.
The pacing is great, the delivery is mostly solid although I will argue that in a couple of places both the xeno's and facehuggers look a bit hokey.
The movie has several very memorable sequences and more intelligence than I expected, this was actually really quite good stuff and though flawed in areas most of it was entirely forgivable.
Sadly it presented us with a rather naff finale, it reminded me greatly of the end of Alien: Resurrection which a lot of fans of the series would rather forget. It didn't kill the film for me but it certainly damaged it.
Alien Romulus fell as the 3rd best movie from the Alien/Predator series, I enjoyed it and am now looking forward to more which I haven't been able to say for a very longtime.
Rants
So let's talk about that line, that iconic line from Alien (1986) which for some reason they decided to replicate here. Now I'm all for fan service, in many instances I think it's needed and can certainly benefit a movie. I mean after all Deadpool & Wolverine was almost entirely fan service! But there's a time and a place and sometimes it's so poorly done or unnecessary it pulls you out of the illusion and reminds you that you're watching a movie and the line in question here is an example. The sad thing is which made it so much worse is which character they had deliver it! It felt so out of character, it just felt forced, awkward and I have no idea why someone thought that would be a good idea.
The Good
Some great cast members especially Jonsson A few great moments Really feels like an Alien movie Very tense stuff Mostly well made
The Bad
A few bits look hokey That line!
A few week cast members I didn't like the Ian Holm element Poor finale.
