I love horror movies, including many different styles. Even The Birds is a must watch classic for me, although I don't find it very re-watchable. The Exorcist is towards the top of my list but Hellraiser makes the top 10.

Today you can expect most horror movies to really just be lame predictable thrillers with a couple of name brand actors, low budget CGI, and some jump scares. Hellraiser is a very unique and interesting movie. The characters are interesting, although there isn't much character development with Frank. There are plenty of things to pick at detail-wise but even in 2024 you don't have to totally suspend disbelief to enjoy this movie.

The Cenobytes are cool and scary, the plot is interesting, and the cinematography is solid where they can build a story without a bunch of cheesy dialogue and lame CGI. The movie was very fresh and unique for its time, and is still enjoyable today if you know how to put down your phone and actually watch a movie with all your attention.

This is honestly the worst sequel I've ever seen. Here's why: 1. The entire plot is ridiculous. I can't say more without spoilers.

2. The CGI is truly awful, so bad that the original 1988 film is more realistic. Think low budget 90s action films.

3. Meta. The weird "meta" aspect with the daughter/mom is so lame and weird I struggle to explain it without spoiling the idiotic plot.

4. Baby "BETELGEUSE". Of the many stupid things done in this film, one of the worst is the mini/baby version of Betelgeuse. It adds absolutely nothing to the story or plot and only serves to support the idea that this whole movie is meant to be an awful caricature of the original. Watch the movie if you want to find out how stupid it is.
