sometimes i judge it by how much i enjoyed it , sometimes i am strict, i may give a star or two more for cinematography or soundtracks, sometimes it is just too good but it hadnt sink in on me,, to each his own cinema, i cannot judge all of films by some standardized criteria, each film has something on its own, as someone on the internet said each film teaches us how to watch it

Afsaid (2006)
girlhood
The power women hold in their hands, their bravery, the access, the emotional intelligence, the flexibility, the way they bond, their girlhoods, womenhoods .......
Ex Machina (2014)
gaze
I havent been watching much of scifi films. But this one really hit me with the making female robots by men and for men. Ew. This film poses two important questions one being very obvious one discussing the love between a human and a robot, but i should be saying a human male and a female robot, although it is said that ava is only on surface perceived as a fem she is not, but thats more than enough for the audience to label ava. Yes ava overcomes her male oppressor, i salute to that, but also ava has managed her escape thanks to the previous robots, ancestors which were nnot white, that brings us to kyoko, kyoko is so stereotyped, built exclusively for male gaze, i support womens rights, but most importantly i support womens wrongs.
Baazigar (1993)

Yet again i will quote letterboxd users, i mean they perfectly say things i feel
as irene said "✨the green contacts✨the way I felt like I was the one being thrown off that building✨the log lady glasses✨the suraj hua maddham cinematic parallels during the titular song✨the oversized suits✨the way srk said eat the rich✨the devouring of the photographic evidence✨the way he's kinda cute... he's a MuRdErEr...but he's kinda cute✨"
or or kriti "This movie slaps until the last 5 minutes when they suddenly forget he murdered a bunch of people because of Tragique Backstory ??"
yes yes and YES.
Zero (2018)
space dwarf
"The amazing thing was that 15 years wrinkled many faces, honey, but the dimples on my face remained forever young."
yee so many bad reviews, but i enjoyed it and as kriti said on a letterboxd "stupid space dwarf movie making me cry again" and so much talk about whether this is a commentary on srks career, YES, i felt that in every film he stared in, like there is always either a reference to earlier works or smth bout him, and this film definitely consists of many comments, on the other side, even without understanding the sublayers i found it entertaining, i loved him being a dwarf, effects were on point, hes experimenting, good for him.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006)
yes...
Oh to have rani bursting into my appartament in an godly outfit blindfolded with a wip in her hand.............oh to have srk bent over and asking to spank him....... oh and amitabhs and kirrons fur coats carried the show, kirron is always shining.
.
but ye his character really said " i refuse to be unfairly labelled as misogynist by some hardworking uterus owner, im leaving!"
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)
sk8r girl
Oh to be able to go for a girl nighty walk.....
or as a wes said it on letterboxd " a sad vampire skateboarding down the roads of a neo western ghost town is the only way i ever wanted to live my life...."
so a sad skategirl vampire in an iranian western spaghetti that listen to a sad indie rock music
the cat was a heart of the show
i have to also quote screeningNotes from letterboxd ".... The Girl forced to walk the streets at night is shrouded in a dark black robe - an icon which simultaneously echoes Dracula's cape and the islamic hijab, twisting a religious symbol at something which is at the same time unholy and proletarian....."
also there could be seen a direct influence of lynch on our girl ana lily amirpour.
Persepolis (2007)
tear
My little achy breaky heart shredded into a gazillion small pieces, and tears......................
"every morning i pick a fresh jasmine and put it in my brassiere, and thats how i smell nice all day long..."
Chalte Chalte (2003)
what
Omg theae guys dont know a thing or two bout decency...... tryna make it he he ha ha but a man child ............. i got really pissed off bout wet pillow and he........ i just.................
.
Ok keywords
stalker behaviour, man child, beautiful girl, rani, srk, kawaii, grand gesture, romanticising mediocre man, weaponized incompetence, baguette, athens, mykonos, prideful, mansplaining, emotionally manipulative, TOXIC AF
.
Someone in the summery said they separated because of their differences, no.... its simply cause of raj, he had it coming, he only had himself to blame, i pretty much enjoyed the moment when she left him
.
Also i like to hate watch
but let me just quote ssydney from letterboxd
" i spiral into a full identity crisis literally everytime i watch a romcom because i hate petty abusive men but i love beautiful dramatic music and sexy people and crying at last minute reconciliations"
or as saahil said " i really do be watching these boring toxic af relationship movies just for srk huh?" or or or arafeh "cant believe srk convinced greek government to briefly change mykonos to athens and athens to mykonos... the reach, the access, the power...he" let me tell u when i giggle.
We Are Family (2010)
remake
The real family shouldve just been kajol, kareena and kids
I saw kajol and just started watching, soon enough i realised its a Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandons Stepmom 1998 bollywood remake, its exactly the same, and with one song😭😤😤
none the less, i got emotional.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)
kajol
The way kajol is flourishing here......
i could go on for days about her beauty, her gesticulation manners, movements, her facial expressions is everything, to my little achy breaky heart she brings joy. And srk is super kawaii.
Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022)
in question
'alia bhatts voice modulation is on fire, i just liked her presence, her voice flow served
.
Whats with the casting of a cis het man as a trans woman, borderline villainisation of a trans character and a messed up take on sex work. All women are heroes. Not just scorned ones. Perhaps this is how men see heroes in women. They need to be scorned to be larger than life. And thats sad." said mystic river on letterboxd and i couldnt agree more.
Alias gesticulation won me over, she was so smooth with it, not a single word utter yet so effective. Gangas transformation happens so fast that we cannot emphatize with, everything being resolved so quickly and easily.
Dil Se.. (1998)
beware
Execution was everything. I loved it
choreography, dance slay, scenery, landscapes slay, songs slay. I just live laugh love these number sequences here its tens across the board
on the other side predictable story, at least from 2022 pov,
it is clearly written by man, this story present us classic street harassment, sexual harassment and assault, but hey hes a good man and he redeem himself later! Ofc this is something that is not emphasized
songs from this film will haunt me till my days are over
i enjoyed it, but i wont pass by it
and when it comes to bollywood girls and their looks and dancing girl lemme tell you im no better than a man, and srk hes just hot, let him have it, im letting him have it, tho his character was ew.
Paheli (2005)
suckerr
Slay whatchu wanna slay and let the slay slay slay
i a m a sucker for these folklore tales
girlboss gatekeep ghostlite
slayed the house boots down.
🙏🙏🙏
Om Shanti Om (2007)
oooooooomm discoooo shanti oopm
I enjoyed it, took me one breath and it was finished
i loved the numbers and coreos, that 2007 fashon grip served hands down
ill try not to deep dive
BUT i just gotta say that besides this being super fun, it feeds the culture of stalking, especially ON WOMEN, acting like its a normal thing, and casting....the girl was 22 at the time and srk is like 45.......im sorry srk baby boy, but u were hela hot here, i just dont like these age gaps .......songs were fire, and the scene when hes deaf mute handless legless...........
Ostwind (2013)
yes
I quite enjoyed it. Nothing groundbreaking about it. Second part was really fast forward, relationships were??? If you have bad relationship with your mamma, you become quantum physicist.......... classic horse chick flick film.. I liked all the shots with horse and our redhead, but the ones of them running couldve been better..... Overall liked it😌
Slums of Beverly Hills (1998)
boobiesss
I saw mom in my breasts😭
dancing scene is iconic😝boots the house down slay queen.. I reaaaaally liked natashas hair throughout the movie, a real cutie.... boobies... boobies.... boobies....boobies....

💅💅

Orlando (1992)
😋
As a leighton trent said on letterboxd
"Only a woman couldve written this. Only a woman couldve adapted this. Only a woman couldve played this character. Only a women couldve directed this story and given it the proper vision it deserved."
I am not sure whether Tilda even identifies self as a woman, as she said it shifts, but definitely only a queer person couldve deliver this character this fine.
Love in the Time of Cholera (2007)
very verterian
I havent read the book, and yadadadadada bad adaptation.. blah blah blah
but you caaan feel something is missing. Florentino remined me of verter.............like bitch she said no!
And the whole film is like a memoirs of geisha.... approprieting ones culture, talking in a bad english accent imitating the natives...
also fermina ends up with florentino out of pity? So, our man gotta catch them all,..... corny laaame boo ronald harwood 👎
and as a algonsoft on letterboxd said " hey whatsup everyone my name is hollywood and for my next magic trick i will cast a bunch of europeans to play latinos. Also the make up will consist of crayolas and a bag of flour."
Gaslight (1944)
m*n
On my quest to see where do all these men find the audacity🤔
and comments such as "tHiS iS a ReMaKe" or "iTs aBsUrD hE mOvEd iN 1o YeArS lAtEr..." yes, ok folks, close your eyes
But besides famous gaslighting term being born outta this film, i watched it cause of ingrid
where do all these men find the audacity🤔
Jutro (1967)
quote from a book
"... Aleksandra's death closes the film in a manner much different from the one in which Slavica's death closes Slavica - there are no parades, no symbols of hope and new beginnings, only a sense of loss and sorrow. Aleksandra herself is a partizanka noticeably different from Slavica. She, for one, is a frail and fallible person who betrays the names of her comrades - a deed unthinkable in the context of Slavica, even if those betrayed were already dead. Nor could she stand for the cause the way Slavica did. She is an appealing, believable, complex character whose execution may leave the audiences deeply moved, but her victimhood is not of the kind that can symbolize the righteousness of the Partisan war or the justness of the regime; if anything, it can symbolize the opposite." quote from the book "women and yugoslav partisans", by Jelena Batinic.
Funny People (2009)

Belle de jour (1967)
m*n
".. you can love one thing and lust for another. In Belle de Jour, the contrast is between virtuous purity and desriable degradation. In this sense, it's a naughty girl beneath a good girl exterior. I ask again, is this a male fantasy?" - said darren on letterboxd perfectly capturing how i felt about this film. I have already heard from guys about their little fantasies where the feminists become their submissive ones.
This is a pathetic male fantasy. 🤢
Elisa y Marcela (2019)
