The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman (2022)
Reminds me very much of Keith Raniere creepo
This is very very good. But the psychopath perpetrator is exactly like the cult leader from Nxivm. The same master manipulation and literally stealing from everyone he can. Really smart and concise showing how ordinary people were taken by a manipulating psychopath. He's out there and he's ruined so many lives. Scary.
Ruth - Justice Ginsburg in Her Own Words (2019)
Disagree with low rating
Rotten tomatoes gives this 93%. It's a slightly different take than RBG but disagree with the criticism.
Kepler(s) (2018)
Mystery plot was ok but flawed
Agree with other reviewer about ridiculous details of characters. Cop could never get away with staying active with a disorder like this and the physician violated ethics so cop could have had his license. The mystery portion was good but cop and shrink make it unbelievable. Acting fine. Story could have been better with characters being believable.
The True Don Quixote (2019)
Made me laugh out loud
Quite an enjoyable romp. Loved it and the performances. A delightful take on the classic. An easy watch.
Non uccidere (2015)
4 seasons available through PBS Masterpiece on Amazon
Watched all the seasons although IMDb shows 24 episodes in season 2 it's actually 4 total. Then ending is not great as it just stops and leaves you to assume. Most stories are good but as others complained not easy to follow. Not as good as Vera or a host of other police dramas but worth watching.
Le chalet (2017)
As good as a Christie or any other mystery
It slowly unwinds and all is very cleverly told. Lots of characters to keep track of so pay attention especially with relationships. Worth every minute spent watching. I've seen almost everything in this genre available and this is one of the very best.
Saving Grace B. Jones (2009)
Stayed with me
Growing up in Kansas I have known real families who suffered tragedy in similar ways. It is a step back in time. Three of the four kids tended to over act but otherwise the acting is very good and the story haunted me long after. Give it a chance. I think some reviewers missed the point. Connie was simply sharing a story based on her childhood experience. Ironically sent away to keep her safe in rural Missouri after a traumatic witnessing of a horrible act in the big Apple. There is tragedy everywhere. It's slow paced but it makes it seem real and I don't understand the reviews that say they weren't touched by the story. It's really about a family's suffering which no one ever deserves but is part of life.
Flashbacks of a Fool (2008)
Take the time it's worth it
I really enjoyed this story. It's one of those lovely few and far between movies that are so real that you can connect with the story. Not your typical story line at all. Worth the time. Definitely.
King Jack (2015)
Sweet and inspiring and true
This is one of the best movies I've seen and I watch a lot. Talented kids. True to life. Bullies abound and sooner or later ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Enjoy.
Manglehorn (2014)
Pleasantly surprised. Stick with it.
It's about redemption and although slow to get going as it meanders I enjoyed this story. Stick it out.
Blandings (2013)
Omg what a hoot.
Saunders is always a fave but her lines omg. Her threats and superficial social climbing and Farthing and Spall are spot in. Poor put upon Butler Beach is such a great foil. Wow I laughed out loud a lot. Enjoy. Downtown Abbey gone off the rails.
Black Earth Rising (2018)
What's up with all the puking
Trying really hard to get to the end but not so great. Lots of sick people too. Strange meandering tale not anything like the incredible "Hotel Rwanda". Spend your time watching that instead.
