Saturday Night Live: Josh Brolin/Ariana Grande (2024)
Best episode in years
Just when I thought SNL was losing it (I still believe the edge is gone), they write an episode that is solid all the way through. Maybe it's Josh Brolin's charisma but every sketch was hilarious, which is very rare for SNL lately. Some material seemed a little risqué which is a much needed and missed aspect of the show, few and far between nowadays. Why does this review need to be so long? Why do we need required characters? Oh well, almost there. The Weekend Update bit was great, always fun when Che's jokes upset the audience. The monologue was also fun. Mr Brolin didn't sing or do any of those overdone tropes. The end.
Wrongfully Accused (1998)
Leslie's Best
I'm sure most people will favor 'Airplane' or the Naked Gun series but this is his best movie in my eyes. So many jokes, it never really gives the viewer a chance to catch their breath, so I understand if other's find that annoying. I don't. I think it's brilliantly stupid. Outside of the movie being a 'Fugitive' spoof, the references don't really get lost in time. One of the last movies in the spoof genre that worked before it became so overblown. The world could use another Leslie Nielsen these days. What else....uhh there's a Usual Suspects bit that gets me everytime. I think that should be enough characters for this review to upload. Thanks.
South Side (2019)
Why are the episodes rated so low?
This is far and away the funniest newer comedy I've seen. One of the best ensembles As well; every character is funny. It's rare that a show catches me during the first episode but this is one of them. Great Chicago references sprinkled in as well.
Hamilton (2020)
Watch it twice
Upon first viewing, I felt like I missed a lot. The second time through, I flat out loved it. I wasn't lucky enough to see this live but this is the next best thing.
MacGruber (2021)
It's perfect
If you're a MacGruber fan, this is exactly what you've been waiting for. It's funnier than the movie in every way. All of these negative reviewers clearly had no idea what they were getting into.
The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience (2019)
Upon the 8th viewing...
...this is absolute genius in action. Dumb? Yes, but so well done. That's a slant rhyme.
Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun (2020)
It's a grower
The sketches are super bizarre but not in an inaccessible way. Reminds me of Stella but with a modern Tim and Eric weirdness to it. The songs are very hit and miss but comedy songs have been way overdone at this point. I look forward to more episodes
Peep Show (2003)
Possibly the funniest show ever
So cringey and awkward yet laugh-out-loud hilarious. I watched it years ago and now it's back on Hulu and I'm sucked right back in
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Way better than Suicide Squad
A lot more fun overall. It was refreshing that they toned down the sexualization of Harley Quinn. Ewan McGregor was great in a comic villain role, as well
Devs (2020)
Poor Lead Choice
Cool story, GREAT music and excellent cinematography. I would have enjoyed this show more if the main character wasn't so terrible. Her acting ruined many scenes and was just overall not a very sympathetic character, just kind of bland. Nick Offerman, though, was great in a dramatic role
Letterkenny (2016)
Pretty much perfect
There's times this show can get a little trying, especially when they go off with their puns but, otherwise, the dialogue is so well written and hilarious and intelligent, for being dumb characters. I love this show
John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch (2019)
Stay for the end
I'm a big fan of John Mulaney but this was pretty boring. There were a couple chuckles throughout and some of the kids were great but the whole special was bland . I give it an 7 because the ending musical number is by far the best part and makes the whole process worth it
Marianne (2019)
Hard to find great Horror these days
This isn't perfect but it's a pretty compelling horror series. The cinematography is beautiful. The acting is solid. People here have complained the overdubbing is laughable but I watched with subtitles and nothing bothered me. Some parts drag but that's what happens when you need to fill 8 episodes. I would definitely recommend this to any horror fan; there's a handful of good scares and an overall creepy vibe to go along with an interesting story.
Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (2015)
Better than the Movie
I was a huge fan of the movie before this came out and after multiple viewings, this is much funnier and way more absurd than the movie. Love it
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Very solid sequel
I'll be short, Deadpool 2 was fun and very comparable to the first one. Some jokes were rehashed but in a way that kept them fresh. My only issue was with the CGI which was kind of bad at parts but overall, I enjoyed DP2 just as much as the first movie
