This was a good episode that helped further move the plot along in many regards while being very entertaining despite there not being many action scenes, though a lot of cool dragon scenes that will more than suffice for that. Alliances will be formed, loyalty will be tested, and newcomers will be elevated to new roles, but it all flowed together well and the episode was executed nicely for all that happened, and set up the series for what will likely be some very exciting upcoming episodes. I just worry that there is going to be a huge cliffhanger at the end of episode 10, leaving us waiting a long time for season 3 to come out, and if there's something GoT have done a lot, it's waiting, especially the readers of the novels.
Probably the best episode of the series so far. It was so good that I'm expecting a bit of a letdown in the next episode (but hopefully not as bad as the previous episode, which was possibly the worst of the series). Major plot developments and changes happen (won't give the away), so I expect the next episode will mostly help smooth those transitions with long political scenes and character development. Daemon's descent into total madness is done well in this episode, and I'm glad that I forgot what happened in the book for the most part (plus this particular history is only a small portion of the book) so that I'll be a bit more surprised in the upcoming episodes.
Most of the episode was too focused on drama that could've been glossed over in half the time it took to droll on and on about, and especially since it was mostly about creepy marriage proposals and animal abuse.
It did make its point very clear about traditions being unnatural, and sometimes even super weird, but it really stretched it out unnecessarily, we get it, time to move along with the plot (it wasn't padding, but it was close).
With the basic script given to them in the supplemental history book 'Fire and Blood' they do get to pick and choose which spots to fill in with more detail, and in this case they really failed, but... enter Daemon Targaryen, and what was possibly the best ending to an episode we've ever scene, and completely making up for the rest of it. Now I want to root for the bad guy (good thing I read the book when it came out and have already forgotten how this all turns out. GO AMNESIA!)
