A great cast is constantly let down by the script, and I'm sure the producers just forgot to make the fifth and final episode, because The Silence simply did not get an ending.

Duck Egg Blue
(2020)
Nice Twist!
3 April 2021
I saw Duck Egg Blue as a featured short at the Dublin Underground Film Festival, and was blown away with the production values, as well as the story.
A really good effort from everyone involved, and who doesn't love a twist ending!

Tough Crowd
(2019)
Heartfelt

What a gig to take on! Felix's new vocation is that of funeral comedienne. I think the phrase 'black comedy' had this film in mind when it was invented.
The story is full of heart and enjoyable, as Annie Lees-Jones carries the film in what is basically a one-woman show. The technical aspects of filmmaking are all handled very professionally and Tough Crowd is a high-quality production.

Family Obligations
(2019)
Obvious Low Budget But Still Honest
8 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed Family Obligations. Its story is quite simple but heartfelt. The same can be said of the performances.
As with most low budget features, there are some technical issues which detract from the viewing experience slightly - namely some off audio and a couple of missteps with camera. Another (very understandable) issue is the lack of locations, which preclude us from seeing the male lead at home and help to tell his story.
A couple of scenes were quite long where they could have been made zippier for the same result. In particular the restaurant and the park scene that follows.
None of this takes away from the story, and I actually enjoyed the interaction from the two leads. I was expecting some photographs to be 'Chekov's Gunned' in there, but it was just a distraction.

Dee-Brief
(2018– )
Beautifully Shot Web Series
28 October 2018
The budget is apparent for Dee-Brief, with the visuals definitely a stand out. The story contains all of the drama that you would expect, although one or two episodes drag on a little - especially anything to do with the ex boyfriend.
Still, worth watching and good to see web series of this quality coming out of Melbourne.
